School Special Education Social Worker
ACCEL Schools is hiring a highly qualified School Special Education Social Worker to join Barber Preparatory Academy in Highland Park, Michigan. This position supports students' academic, behavioral, social-emotional, and mental health needs by providing direct services, conducting special education evaluations, collaborating with families and school teams, and connecting students with community resources. This role also provides individual and small-group services in accordance with students' Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) while supporting general education intervention efforts.
The ideal candidate will have a valid Michigan Professional School Social Worker Certificate (PSWC) issued by the Michigan Department of Education (MDE), a Master's Degree in Social Work (MSW) from a program accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE), and experience providing school-based social work services, including counseling, crisis intervention, behavioral interventions, consultation, and family engagement. Knowledge of the Michigan Administrative Rules for Special Education (MARSE), IDEA, special education evaluation procedures, and Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) is required.
