The Investment Data Management professional supporting Data Insights will translate investment-business needs into reliable, governed data products and business intelligence solutions. This position combines business partnership with hands‑on technical delivery across cloud data platforms, data models, reporting tools, and emerging artificial intelligence capabilities. Key Responsibilities Include Designs, develops, and maintains data models, curated datasets, semantic models, and data products that support investment reporting, analytics, operational processes, and self‑service business intelligence. Builds, supports, and troubleshoots data pipelines, dataflows, notebooks, jobs, scheduled processes, and related integrations; investigates failures, identifies root causes, and coordinates timely remediation. Uses data modeling principles to define relationships, business rules, transformations, keys, hierarchies, measures, and other structures needed to create consistent and reusable data products. Creates and maintains Business Objects universes, reports, scheduled distributions, and related reporting components, while supporting the transition of legacy reporting capabilities to modern, governed solutions where appropriate. Develops and enhances Power BI datasets, semantic models, reports, dashboards, measures, filters, and user experiences; applies established reporting and analytic standards to promote consistent interpretation of investment data. Partners with business users and Technology teams to define requirements, evaluate source‑system and downstream impacts, document technical designs, estimate work, and sequence delivery through an agile work process. Performs complex data profiling, reconciliation, and validation across investment data sources; establishes data‑quality checks, exception handling, monitoring, and operational procedures to identify and resolve issues before they affect consumers. Supports end‑to‑end testing, including test scenario development, data validation, regression testing, User Acceptance Testing, defect triage, release readiness, and post‑release verification. Collaborates with data governance, data management, reporting, infrastructure, vendor, and investment‑business partners to ensure data access, security, controls, and audit expectations are met. Evaluates and applies emerging artificial intelligence capabilities responsibly, including AI‑assisted documentation, natural‑language interaction with data, data‑quality monitoring, summarization, and other use cases that improve productivity or access to governed information. Communicates technical concepts clearly to audiences with varying levels of technical expertise; facilitates working sessions, presents recommendations, provides status and risk updates, and builds consensus around data and reporting solutions. Participates in production support and operational activities, including monitoring scheduled processes, reviewing exceptions, reloading or correcting data when appropriate, coordinating incident resolution, and communicating impacts to stakeholders. Technical Requirements And Experience Demonstrated experience with SQL, relational data concepts, data modeling, data warehousing, data transformation, and data validation. Experience working with Snowflake and/or Databricks, including data storage, compute, processing, notebooks, jobs, dataflows, or related cloud data capabilities. Experience developing or supporting business intelligence solutions using Power BI, Business Objects, or comparable enterprise reporting and visualization platforms. Working knowledge of semantic models, reusable datasets, measures, reporting layers, and visualization techniques that support accurate and efficient business consumption. Familiarity with Python or similar scripting languages for lightweight automation, analysis, testing, or data‑quality tasks. Ability to learn and apply artificial intelligence tools and techniques in a controlled, practical, and business‑focused manner, with appropriate attention to data security, governance, accuracy, and human review. Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting investment management, asset management, insurance, financial services, or other data‑intensive business processes. Experience building or supporting enterprise data products, reporting centers of excellence, data dictionaries, governance standards, or self‑service analytics capabilities. Experience modernizing or transitioning reporting and data solutions across legacy and cloud platforms. Experience explaining technical recommendations and data limitations to business stakeholders and converting business needs into implementable solutions. Success in This Role Success in this role requires balancing hands‑on technical execution with strong business partnership. The professional will be expected to produce trustworthy and reusable data solutions, improve the reliability of reporting and analytics, proactively identify data or process risks, and help the Data Insights team expand the practical use of cloud platforms and artificial intelligence while maintaining Nationwide’s standards for security, governance, quality, and accessibility. Role Summary Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and analytics solutions using Snowflake. Develop reliable data products that support business intelligence, advanced analytics, machine learning, and AI use cases. Key Responsibilities Engineer batch and streaming data pipelines using Python, SQL, OpenFlow, Spark, or comparable technologies. Build and optimize lakehouse or cloud data warehouse solutions, with strong attention to performance, scalability, data quality, and cost management. Partner with analysts, architects, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into governed, production‑ready data solutions. Apply AI and machine learning concepts to support use cases such as generative AI, retrieval‑augmented generation, intelligent automation, or predictive analytics. Implement data governance, security, lineage, monitoring, testing, and CI/CD practices across the data platform. Required/Preferred Qualifications Hands‑on experience with Snowflake (or Databricks) in an enterprise data environment. Strong programming skills in Python and SQL Experience with Openflow and Snowflake AI products (Cortex Code, Cortex Analyst, etc) is preferred. Practical understanding of cloud data architecture, dimensional modeling, data integration, and orchestration tools. Strong problem‑solving, communication, and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across technical and business teams. You will be responsible for creating and maintaining the vision for the data ecosystem, with focus on improving efficiency, effectiveness, and quality of data‑driven business processes and decisions. Your role provides business‑minded thought leadership throughout all phases of data development, including intake, work initiation, requirement gathering and iteration planning and project estimations. You will serve as the data‑related voice of the customer in translating functional data and analytic requirements into solutions for consumption and use by the respective business area, managing communications between Technology and business, resolving blockers/questions/support needs, conducting/coordinating User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and approving releases. You will evaluate potential data impacts, coordinate with stakeholders, and serve as steward for data governance, access rights/audits and defect resolution. Reporting Relationships: Reports to AVP or Data Leader Typical Skills And Experiences Undergraduate studies in computer science, management information systems, business, statistics, math, a related field or comparable experience and education strongly preferred. Graduate studies in business, statistics, math, computer science or a related field are a plus. License/Certification/Designation: Certifications are not required but encouraged. Experience: 6-10 years of relevant experience with data management organization/standards or practices. Experience engaging business leaders, data architects and external consultants to identify and fill gaps in data and analytics environment. Proficient in data acquisition, data wrangling and/or data visualization techniques and tools (i.e., SQL, R, Python, Tableau, Power BI, etc.), and cloud technologies – Azure and AWS (i.e., Redshift, S3, EC2, etc.). Experience in statistical analysis, interpreting results in determining data quality and fit for purpose. Insurance/financial services industry knowledge a plus. Knowledge, Abilities And Skills: Data application and practices knowledge, with expertise using SQL to perform data analysis (experience in Snowflake and Databricks preferred) Sound decision making and strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy Exhibits interpersonal skills and effective written and oral communication Ability to work independently and as part of a team Ability to effectively adapt to rapidly changing technology and apply it to business needs Demonstrated expertise in building relationships, facilitating meetings, influencing others, and setting priorities Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.
