Cardiac Cath Lab Technologist Opportunity in Tyler, TX

Join a hospital-based catheterization laboratory team in Tyler, Texas. The role involves performing routine and complex laboratory procedures, processing and handling patient specimens, operating and maintaining laboratory instrumentation, participating in quality control and procedure development, and performing patient-oriented tasks including phlebotomy when required. The position requires adherence to regulatory and institutional policies and documentation of critical laboratory values.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science or medical technology from an accredited institution; or equivalent laboratory training and experience meeting CLIA regulation 42 CFR 493.1489. Education evaluated and deemed equivalent by an acceptable credentialing agency is acceptable.
• Certification as MT, MLS, CLS, or MLT from ASCP, AMT, AAB, or HEW/HHS. If certification has an expiration date, it must be maintained and current.
• New graduates are eligible if board certified or board eligible. Board certification must be completed within one year of hire, except where excluded by state law.
• Clinical rotation or experience that includes Blood Banking (Transfusion Service), Microbiology, Chemistry, Hematology, Immunology, and Urinalysis/Body Fluids. One year of approved clinical laboratory experience is required if not a recent graduate of an accredited clinical laboratory training program.
• Demonstrated competence in population-specific and developmental needs for patients served by the department.
• Required compliance with institutional policies, quality control procedures, and use of the Laboratory Information System.

Preferred Qualifications

• Demonstrated excellent transfusion service (blood banking) skills.

Assignment Details

• Work schedule: Saturday through Monday, 06:00–19:30.
• Full time position.

This role contributes to timely, accurate laboratory testing and reporting, which supports diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in the catheterization laboratory and related clinical areas. The technologist will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure quality control, instrument maintenance, and implementation of updated testing procedures that impact patient outcomes.
