Make a meaningful impact as a Special Education Teacher focusing on life skills at the junior high school level. This full-time contract position provides a valuable opportunity to guide and empower students with diverse learning needs as they develop key skills for independence and personal growth. Desired Qualifications:
- Valid Special Education Teacher certification, or eligibility in state of assignment
- Previous experience teaching students with intellectual or developmental disabilities, preferably at the junior high or secondary level
- Strong background in developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Familiarity with life skills curriculum and adaptive teaching strategies
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams
- Patience, adaptability, and commitment to student success
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead a junior high life skills classroom, designing and adapting instructional activities to fit individual student needs and learning styles
- Develop and deliver lessons focusing on self-care, social, vocational, and daily living skills
- Create a supportive classroom environment that encourages independence and confidence
- Maintain accurate records and progress documentation for students, ensuring compliance with IEP requirements
- Collaborate closely with parents, related service providers, and support staff to maximize each student’s achievement and wellbeing
- Participate in professional development opportunities and contribute to a positive school culture
