Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a 64-bed Medical/Surgical Stroke Stepdown unit serving adult patients
• Manage common diagnoses including stroke, altered mental status, renal/dialysis, COPD, CHF, pneumonia, and general medical/surgical conditions
• Operate specialty equipment including IV pumps, nasogastric tubes, and feeding tubes
• Monitor and assess patients requiring isolation precautions and pulmonary support
• Float to other units as required
• Document patient care accurately using Epic EMR

Required Qualifications

• Active, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of New York
• Current AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required (may be obtained prior to start date)
• Minimum 2 years of experience in Medical/Surgical nursing with stroke stepdown experience
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Proficiency with Epic EMR
• Local candidates (within 75 miles) are welcome to apply

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience caring for patients with renal/dialysis needs, COPD, CHF, and pulmonary conditions
• Familiarity with isolation protocols and infection control practices
• Experience with nasogastric and enteral feeding tube management
