Mechanical Design Engineer Staff

Description Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire control is looking for an experienced mechanical engineer to support the SNIPER sensor program. Responsibilities Generate complete, release‑ready engineering documents (drawings, BOMs, assembly parts lists) for fabrication and procurement. Perform tolerance stack up and fit analyses to ensure manufacturability and reliability of mechanical components. Conduct design reviews, incorporate feedback, and secure formal engineering release approvals. Build BOMs, create parts, assemblies, and design documentation within Windchill PLM. Coordinate the IPT team, suppliers, GSC, electronic packaging, optics, and structural/thermal/material analysts to ensure design excellence, including occasional travel for site visits. Basic Qualifications B.S. in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited university. Minimum of 5 years of experience in a relevant industry. Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing in accordance with ASME Y14.5 and complex system‑level tolerance analysis. Proficient in Computer Aided Design (PTC CREO preferred). Experience generating engineering drawings, documents, parts lists and specifications. Ability to obtain a security clearance. Desired Skills Opto‑Mechanical Design Experience. Leadership experience, leading tasking and decision making over small or large teams. Ability to guide major projects to completion and engage with senior personnel on significant matters, including multi‑functional and multi‑site teams. Ability to lead investigative efforts and report status to senior personnel. Security Clearance Statement This position requires a government security clearance; you must be a US Citizen for consideration. Clearance Level: Secret Other Important Information Ability to work remotely: Part‑time remote telework; employee will work part of their schedule remotely and part onsite at a Lockheed Martin facility.
