Job Summary:
The healthcare provider is seeking a Medical Surgical (MS) Charge Nurse for a facility located in Wheeling, West Virginia. This position involves providing leadership and clinical excellence on the medical-surgical unit, with a focus on patient care for individuals with conditions such as congestive heart failure, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, cellulitis, and pneumonia. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day.

Job Details:

• Location: Wheeling, West Virginia
• Shift: 12-hour nights, weekends as scheduled
• Schedule: Transitioning to Qgenda; weeknights and weekends as scheduled, usually 1/2 the total weekends
• Required Qualifications: BLS certification (American Heart Association), NIHSS certification, minimum of 2 years of experience, active license to submit, and a minimum of 0 years of experience in the field
• Preferred Qualifications: None specified
• Float: Float rotation may be required. Floating requirements are as needed based on census, with external travelers being first to float.
• Additional Information: Scheduled as needed, usually 1/2 the total weekends. The unit maintains a 50-mile radius rule; all submissions must include a copy of the candidate's unexpired driver's license. Licensing hits must be disclosed at the time of submission. The unit has a nurse-to-patient ratio of approximately 1:6/7, with RN staff responsible for titrating heparin drips based on aptt results. The patient population includes individuals with CHF, COPD, cellulitis, among others. There is a charge nurse and PCTs on the unit. No ventilators are used; remote telemonitoring is present. The charting system is EPIC.
