Job Summary :

Our fast paced orthopedic clinic is seeking assistance in our Durable Medical Equipment (DME) department. The DME coordinator will provide on-site patient fittings and education of all equipment under orders provided by a physician. This individual will provide excellent customer service for the patient, physician and staff during fittings. The coordinator will gather necessary paperwork to facilitate billing and collections. 

Responsibilities include:

• Fit the patient with the prescribed medical equipment. It will include evaluation, modification, fitting, and training the patient on proper fitting and usage. Answer questions as it relates to the bracing.
• Accurately enter data into the EMR system to ensure proper dispensing of equipment.
• Coordinate precert for equipment to obtain proper authorization as required by insurance.
• Educate patients on insurance plans and the provisions of that plan, inform of financial responsibilities, and collect patient responsibility portion.
• Occassional driving will be needed to administer and provide medical equipment at off-site facilities.
• Provide support to clinic staff by helping with overall flow of the clinic as it pertains to cleanliness, entering data, rooming patients, and providing to the overall team environment.
• Cleaning/stocking 
• Ensure blood borne pathogen, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements and other governmental regulations are adhered to.
• Ensure all safety regulations are adhered to.
• Maintain inventory of all DME products
• DME Application
• Posts DME charges
• Ordering and receiving order in Inventory Management software 
• Other duties as assigned  

Education/experience:

• Prefer experience of at least 1 year with DME.
• Associate’s degree in a related field or equivalent in training and experience.
• Knowledge of reimbursement guidelines, medical terminology, and DME billing codes preferred.
• Computer proficient, including skills necessary to learn and utilize EMR software.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and the flexibility to manage multiple tasks.
• Knowledge of HIPAA guidelines 

Skills:

• Excellent customer service skills.
• Comfortable working in fast paced environment.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Proficient with computer skills including experience with practice management software desired.
