Investment Associate

Join a high-performing Special Situations group within a leading global real estate investment firm. This team is responsible for the active management and resolution of complex, high-LTV, and distressed debt investments across all major commercial property types. As an Analyst or Associate, you will support a lean team of Vice Presidents in navigating the complexities of defaulted or impaired loans. You will be at the epicenter of the workout process, combining rigorous technical underwriting with high-stakes transaction management. Key Responsibilities Perform deep-dive credit and real estate analysis; model complex cash flows and recovery scenarios using Excel and Argus. Monitor a portfolio of distressed or near-default positions, managing communication with third-party servicers and stakeholders. Assist in the execution of restructuring strategies, including foreclosure, discounted payoffs (DPOs), and loan modifications. Work closely with internal deal teams and outside counsel to review loan documents, intercreditor agreements, and restructuring term sheets. Prepare high-quality investment committee memos, quarterly client reports, and executive-level PowerPoint presentations. Qualifications 1–5 years of experience in real estate debt, distressed credit, or investment banking. (Specific experience in Real Estate Debt Modeling is required). Advanced Excel skills and high proficiency in Argus Enterprise. Exceptional writing skills (memos) and the ability to present complex data clearly to VPs and senior management. Strong understanding of LTV ratios, debt yields, and the legal mechanics of commercial real estate defaults. A "self-starter" mentality.
