Be sure to explore our Interviewing Guide to learn how to ace our interview process.About the RoleThe Mobile Core team develops frameworks and tools that empower engineering teams across Twitch to build compelling mobile experiences. In this role, you will directly contribute to creating and refining core features, such as Video Playback, while architecting strategic solutions for internal developers. Twitch is evolving its mobile strategy from native-first to a hybrid approach that leverages React in WebViews alongside native iOS capabilities. You'll work on high-impact initiatives including our hybrid web-to-mobile platform, performance optimization at scale, automated testing infrastructure, and developer tooling that accelerates velocity across the organization. You will report to the Senior Engineering Manager for Mobile Core iOS and can work from either our Seattle, Irvine, San Francisco or our New York City offices.You Will:Own and drive the technical strategy for foundational iOS components, native video playback infrastructure, and hybrid (React in WebView) frameworksArchitect and build robust WebView infrastructure and bridges that enable seamless integration between React-based web content and native iOS functionalityLead performance optimization efforts for platform components used by millions of daily active users, establishing benchmarks and best practicesProvide technical leadership and mentorship to iOS engineers across multiple product teams and within Mobile Core, including onboarding and growing L4/L5 engineersDrive cross-organizational architectural decisions that balance developer velocity, app performance, and maintainability, representing Mobile Core's technical perspective in org-wide discussionsCollaborate with cross-functional teams to establish and maintain development standards for hybrid mobile applications, influencing adoption across the mobile engineering organizationYou Have:6+ years of professional iOS development experienceStrong proficiency with Swift and the iOS architectural components and ecosystem6+ years of building and shipping production iOS applications to the Apple App StoreA talent for building consensus around technical decisions and guiding the team along evolving architecture patternsTrack record of leading major architectural initiatives, migrations, or platform-level projectsExperience mentoring engineers and raising the technical bar across teamsExperience leveraging AI-powered development tools (such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or similar) to accelerate developmentBonus PointsExperience with hybrid mobile architectures, WebView integration, JavaScript bridges, React, or React NativeExperience with video streaming or real-time communication technologiesExperience working on platform or infrastructure teams that support multiple product teamsPerksMedical, Dental, Vision & Disability Insurance401(k)Maternity & Parental LeaveFlexible PTOAmazon Employee DiscountPursuant to the San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance, we will consider for employment qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records.Pursuant to the Los Angeles Fair Chance Ordinance, we will consider for employment qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records.
