Responsibilities Operate, inspect, and maintain mechanical and electrical equipment for commercial HVAC systems to achieve most efficient results. Assure that equipment is maintained in a safe manner, minimizing downtime through proactive performance testing and scheduled maintenance. Comply with all applicable codes, regulations, governmental agency and Company directives related to building operations and work safety. Maintain, operate, and repair HVAC systems and associated equipment, electrical distribution equipment, plumbing systems, building interior/exterior repair, and related grounds as it pertains to assigned building(s). Inspect building HVAC and plumbing systems to ensure operation is within design capabilities and meets environmental conditions prescribed by the client. Perform assigned repairs, emergency and preventive maintenance, and complete maintenance and repair records as required. Respond quickly to emergency situations, summoning additional assistance as needed. Review historical maintenance records to develop proactive inspection, testing and preventive maintenance schedules. Operate company vehicle safely and follow prescribed routines to service locations in a timely manner. Responsible for personal safety and the safety of those affected by your work, including: Complete all required and assigned HSE training at a satisfactory level. Follow all activity policies and procedures, including all HSE‑related requirements at all times. Participate in all HSE‑related programs & activities as required, including incident investigations, interviews, auditing and assessment. Report any conditions that could result in an accident or injury and/or stop work if required. Qualifications and Requirements High school diploma or GED plus a minimum of seven years’ experience as a certified refrigerant technician. Completion of a formal apprenticeship program preferred. Valid driver’s license required. Certification in two or more of the following: electrical, mechanical, HVAC and refrigeration systems, process controls, mechanical power transmissions, painting, plumbing, carpentry, engine repair, and CFC Certification. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational and analytical skills. Ability to provide efficient, timely, reliable, and courteous service to customers. Ability to effectively present information. Knowledge of financial terms and principles, ability to understand operating budgets, calculate intermediate figures such as percentages, discounts, and/or commissions, conduct basic financial analysis, and comprehend, analyze, and interpret documents. Intermediate analytical and quantitative skills. Ability to self‑learn and understand complex machinery and systems, with a deep understanding of basic equipment technology such as weights and measures, practical mathematics, SPC, strength of materials, fundamentals of heat transfer, basic electricity, bearings, seals, gears, cams, links, chain, belts, fasteners, hydraulics, pumps, piping, pressure, flow, tanks, diesels and gas engines, compressors and fans, refrigeration, air conditioning, lubrication, insulation, motors, contactors, controllers, power supplies, and programmable logic controllers. Ability to use computers and common software. A technical understanding of building systems and equipment is preferred. Physical Demands Consistently deliver the hours required to do the job. Shift and time flexible. Exposure to hazardous and non‑hazardous materials. Exposure to coating material dust requiring dust masks or breathing apparatus and protective clothing. Moderate lifting and pushing/pulling, climbing ladders/stairways, operation of material and aerial equipment.
