Travel OR RN Fusion Medical Staffing is seeking a skilled Operating Room Registered Nurse for a 13‑week travel assignment in Augusta, Georgia. Required Qualifications One year of recent experience as an Operating Room RN Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations Current BLS certification (AHA/ARC) Preferred Qualifications ACLS (AHA/ARC), PALS (AHA/ARC) or ENPC certifications OR Nursing Certification (CNOR) Other certifications and licenses may be required for this position Summary The Operating Room Registered Nurse provides comprehensive patient care throughout the perioperative process, ensuring the safety and comfort of patients during surgical procedures. This role involves preparing the operating room, managing surgical equipment, and collaborating with the surgical team to ensure high‑quality, patient‑centered care. The OR RN collaborates with multidisciplinary teams and adheres to the highest standards of patient safety, infection control, and professional ethics in a dynamic surgical environment. Essential Work Functions Prepare the operating room, ensuring all required instruments, equipment, and sterile supplies are ready and functional for each surgical procedure. Assist in positioning and preparing patients for surgery, addressing concerns and ensuring comfort and safety according to procedural requirements. Maintain a sterile field throughout surgical procedures and adhere to infection control protocols and sterile technique. Anticipate the needs of the surgical team, providing instruments, supplies, and support promptly to maintain efficient workflow. Monitor the patient's condition during surgery, documenting significant changes and notifying the surgeon. Handle surgical instruments and supplies, ensuring their proper use, sterilization, and disposal according to facility protocols. Manage specimen collection, labeling, and transport according to facility protocols, ensuring accurate diagnostic results. Document all aspects of patient care in the perioperative setting accurately and thoroughly. Participate in patient handoff communication during pre‑ and post‑operative phases, ensuring continuity of care. Assist in cleaning and restocking the operating room between cases, adhering to infection control and turnover protocols. Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure compliance with facility policies, procedures, and standards. Follow hospital safety rules and procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment and infection prevention measures. Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of practice. Required Essential Skills Critical thinking, service excellence, and strong interpersonal communication skills. Ability to read, write, and communicate in English. Ability to follow written instructions, listen to verbal instructions, and possess proficiency in PC skills. Physical Abilities Remain in a stationary position, move equipment (50‑100 lbs), push, pull, and bend. Interpersonal Skills Work effectively with a variety of personnel (professional and ancillary) while maintaining a positive attitude and professionalism. Technical/Motor Skills Fine manipulation, ability to push/pull, and move within the operating room setting during procedures. Mental Requirements Manage frequent contact with the general public and customers while meeting deadlines under pressure. Work under close supervision occasionally, and also independently without assistance. Handle irregular activity schedules occasionally and maintain continuous concentration on detail.
