Overview Position Title: Experienced RN-Registered Nurse Perioperative-Adult Surgery - Nights Department: Adult Surgery Location: University of Oklahoma Medical Center Shift: Full-Time - 36 hours per week, Nights Shift Stipend: Night shift stipend applies Note: This position may be filled as an RN Level 1, 2, or 3 depending on individual experience, education, and other qualifications. General Description OU Health Registered Nurse (RN) I works under general supervision, providing high quality care to patients in a hospital setting with health problems ranging from simple to complex. The department focuses on improving surgical care in Oklahoma and includes open positions in Cardiovascular, Transplant, Orthopedics, Neuro, Robotics, Women’s, and General Surgery. Responsibilities Align behaviors with OU Health values and maintain nursing professional practice standards. Assume responsibility for an assigned patient or group of patients. Document patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments, noting all changes in physician orders on assigned patients. Assist physicians in examination of patients and in performing minor diagnostic procedures and treatments. Obtain and monitor physiological data of patients, observe physiological manifestations, and intervene when necessary. Administer medications as prescribed. Initiate, regulate, and monitor intravenous infusions and blood products. Deliver patient care safely and competently. Resolve patient complaints timely in accordance with policy and in collaboration with support staff. Inform patients and families about hospital procedures and share care plans during care and at discharge. Make referrals regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel. Foster a growth mindset by seeking mentorship, remaining open to coaching and feedback, and maintaining professional licensure/certification to develop and uphold nursing proficiency. Develop a professional career plan and establish personal performance goals aligned with department metrics, measuring progress with leadership. Foster an inclusive workforce where differences are valued. Delegate tasks to clinical support staff as needed. Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications RN I Education: Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing. Experience: 0-3 years in patient care as an RN. Acute operating room experience may substitute with department orientation or RN residency completion. License/Certification: Current RN license (OK State Board or multistate compact/eNLC). Basic Life Support (AHA) certification required on hire.

RN II

Education: Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing. Experience: 3-5 years in patient care as an RN. Acute operating room experience may substitute with orientation or RN residency completion. License/Certification: Current RN license (OK Board or eNLC). BLS certification required on hire.

RN III

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing required; Master’s preferred. Experience: 5+ years of RN experience, with at least 1 year in an acute operating room environment; substitution options via orientation or RN residency as applicable. License/Certification: Current RN license (OK Board or eNLC). BLS required on hire. Specialty certifications preferred. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, techniques, and procedures. Ability to organize, plan, coordinate, and evaluate nursing services and apply nursing techniques. Ability to maintain civility and good working relationships with staff. Ability to respond effectively to cultural and language needs of patients and visitors. Proficiency in computer applications to support quality and safety measures for patients. Ability to advocate for patients and maintain integrity and trust. Ability to manage conflicts constructively and ensure compliance with regulatory standards. Ability to foster an inclusive workplace where diversity is valued. Strong written and oral communication skills with candor, openness, integrity, and diplomacy.
