The candidate will oversee 2,604 lane miles of asphalt street maintenance which will include heavy equipment as well as field staff personnel. The position is located at 4100 Columbus Trail at our Southside Service Center.This leadership role requires extensive knowledge and hands-on experience in asphalt street maintenance as well as building strong efficient teams. The successful candidate will supervise and participate in a wide range of street repair and preservation activities, including but not limited to:Mechanical pothole repairSubgrade (base) and asphalt pavement repairsResponse to street cave-insAsphalt level-ups (hand and machine applications)Proper material selection and application for various repair methodsMinimum Qualifications:High School Diploma/GED supplemented by specialized training related to assigned operations and servicesFour (4) years of related experienceValid Texas Class C Driver's licensePreferred Qualifications:Excellent computer skills, i.e., VueWorks, Mobile VUE, Microsoft Office, PeopleSoft, other software platformsWork zone safety knowledge, traffic control and/or training and knowledge of snow/ice/hazardous weather conditions pertaining to Streets OperationsSupervisory experience including experience writing employee performance appraisalsFamiliarity with Fort Worth's Street network and common maintenance challengesLeading and building new teamsThe Field Operations Supervisor job responsibilities include:Prioritize scheduled and emergency workProvide direct in-field supervision of crews working on all phases of maintenance operationsSchedule and monitor maintenance projects and improve upon the efficiency and effectiveness of all areas under his/her direction and controlConduct regular safety inspections and maintain a safe worksite for employees and citizensEnsure compliance of policies and proceduresRead engineering plans and blueprintsCommunicate with internal and external customersWorking Conditions and Physical Demand as stated on official City job descriptionDepending on assignment, positions in this class typically require touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, walking, repetitive motions, climbing, balancing, pushing, pulling and lifting; depending on assignment.
