This role ensures that facilities run efficiently by performing preventive and corrective maintenance, supporting repairs, and assisting with system installations. Acting as a key contributor to team success, the Facilities Maintenance Technician I drives operational excellence, promotes a safe work environment, and helps maintain the integrity and functionality of facilities critical to business operations.Experience, Education & Job RequirementsTechnical, vocational, or on-the-job training in one or more of the following areas: HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, Controls, Air CompressorsMinimum of five (5) years of experience in commercial or industrial facility maintenanceCurrent valid driver's license with a clean driving record, (commercial license may be required)Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Excel, and WordTechnical proficiency with work order management systems (CMMS)Current EPA 608 certification or ability and commitment to obtain within 30 daysHigh school diploma or GED equivalent required; associate's degree or vocational/technical school diploma preferredMust pass a criminal background check and drug screeningKey CompetenciesMust be able to work in a collaborative / safety conscious environment. Promote a safe work environment throughout the facility and complete all safety training on timeBring a professional inclusive attitude, willing to help others as needed for team success.Willingly accepts and assists with all assigned tasks, demonstrating flexibility, accountability, and a team-first mindset.Technical proficiency and comfort with troubleshooting various mechanical, electrical, and/or plumbing systems.Professional proficiency in executing maintenance tasks with accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with safety protocols, while communicating and collaborating effectively with team members, vendors, and stakeholdersFlexibility to provide critical services as neededAbility to multi-task and prioritize work requests and projectsSense of urgency & personal initiative to succeedMust be able to articulate notes and accurately record time.Essential Functions & ResponsibilitiesThis position requires a high level of HVAC repair & mechanical troubleshooting skillsAssist with troubleshooting and repairs of buildings and installed systems to include packaging and handling machinery, large air compressors, plumbing systems, kitchen equipment, roofs, drains, shop equipment, grounds equipment, and HVAC systems among othersAssist with installation and modification of building equipment and systemsAbility to review, create, and maintain assigned work orders with associated paperwork within digital computerized maintenance management system (CMMS)Replace and repair building finishes such as ceiling tiles, door hardware, wallpaper, and can paint walls, piping, floors and equipmentInspect buildings, grounds, and equipment for unsafe or malfunctioning conditions, perform both reactive & preventative maintenanceMaintain and operate fire and life safety systems such as fire alarm systems, fire pumps and related fire protection system equipmentPossess competent knowledge of the use and care of tools and equipment used in facility and grounds maintenanceIdentify and work with potential outside contractors/vendors from sourcing to quotation to job completionRespond immediately to emergency situations and customer service requests as assignedAbility to use technology such as smart phones, tablets, computers, web-based applications, building automation systems, etc.Comply with all applicable codes, regulations, governmental agency, and company directives as related to building operations and practice safe work habitsComplete all required safety training as scheduled weekly/monthly/annuallyBring a professional inclusive attitude, willing to help others as needed for team success.Comply with company dress code while working and maintain a neat and clean appearance while on the property at times other than working hoursWork Environment – Physical DemandsThe work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. This role operates in a professional office environment as well as industrial oil field type environments both indoors and outside during hot and cold climates. This role routinely uses maintenance tools and personnel lifts and standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and printers to accomplish tasks. Extend hands and arms in multiple directions to perform tasks, Lift, carry, push, or pull objects weighing up to fifty pounds. May be the only maintenance staff member on duty during certain shifts; may be required to work extended periods of time without relief when responding to priority / emergency situations (including overtime type assignments); may require shift work and / or stand-by on-call duties.
