The Fleet & Marine Yard Manager is a hands-on leadership role responsible for overseeing all shop, yard, and fleet operations at BIDCO’s Buffalo facility on the Buffalo River. This position manages the maintenance, readiness, and lifecycle of the company’s marine vessels, heavy equipment, and support assets to ensure maximum uptime and reliability for marine and underwater construction projects across New York State and the Great Lakes region.

The role combines operational oversight, preventive maintenance, logistics coordination, regulatory compliance, cost control, and team leadership in a dynamic waterfront environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the full lifecycle of fleet assets, including specification, procurement, maintenance, repair, and disposal of marine vessels (tugs, barges, workboats), cranes, excavators, dive support equipment, and land-based vehicles/trailers.
• Develop and manage preventive maintenance programs, inspection schedules, and repair protocols tailored to harsh marine conditions, including corrosion control and winterization.
• Plan and coordinate equipment mobilization, demobilization, and transportation to project sites, including permitting, loadouts, and staging.
• Track equipment performance, utilization, downtime, and costs (fuel, parts, labor); implement improvements to reduce expenses and extend asset life.
• Ensure full regulatory compliance with USCG (inspected and uninspected vessels), OSHA, DOT, and environmental regulations (NYDEC).
• Manage relationships with shop vendors, repair yards, and service providers; negotiate contracts and approve invoices.
• Supervise and develop fleet personnel (mechanics, operators, fabricators), providing training on safety, maintenance, and company procedures.
• Collaborate with project managers to align fleet availability with project schedules, bids, and seasonal demands.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance, certifications, inspections, and registrations; utilize telematics and fleet management systems.
• Develop and control the annual fleet operating budget and contribute to capital planning for fleet renewal.
• Champion a strong safety culture through audits, incident investigations, and risk assessments specific to marine construction hazards.

Compensation & Benefits offered:

1. Annualized Base Salary: TBD based upon experience

• Overtime paid over 40 Hrs. at 1.5 x base hourly rate
• Paid Weekly by Direct Deposit.

10. Base Work Hours: 7:00 – 3:30
