Teacher Job Title: Teacher • Wage/Hour Status: Exempt • Reports to: Principal • Pay Grade: Teacher Pay Grade • Days: 187 • Dept./School: Assigned Campus • Date Revised: 06/18/2026 Primary Purpose Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in the core academic subject area assigned to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society. Qualifications Education/Certification: Bachelor's degree from accredited university Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or required training for subject and level assigned Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned Special Knowledge/Skills Knowledge of core academic subject assigned General knowledge of curriculum and instruction Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills Experience At least one-year student teaching or approved internship Major Responsibilities And Duties Instructional Strategies Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of the district's curriculum program and show written evidence of preparation as required. Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in student learning styles. Present subject matter according to guidelines established by the Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administrative regulations. Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned. Conduct assessment of student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities. Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans (IEP). Work with other members of staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district requirements. Plan and supervise assignments of teacher aide(s) and volunteer(s). Use technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process. Student Growth and Development Help students analyze and improve study methods and habits. Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing. Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned. Sponsor outside activities approved by the campus principal. Be a positive role model for students, support the mission of the school district. Classroom Management and Organization Create classroom environments conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students. Manage student behavior in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and student handbook. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities. Assist in selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials. Communication Establish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, principals, and teachers. Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members. Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly. Professional Growth and Development Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills. Keep informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers. Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required. Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required. Supervisory Responsibilities Supervise assigned teacher aide(s). Working Conditions Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Maintain emotional control under stress. Provide instruction and coach students to develop skills and ability to excel in sport(s) assigned. Contribute to education program as a whole and to growth of students involved in athletics. Education/Certification Bachelor's degree • Valid Texas teaching certificate • Current automated external (AED) defibrillator certificate Special Knowledge/Skills Knowledge of coaching techniques, strategies, and procedures Knowledge of University Interscholastic League (UIL) rules and regulations Ability to instruct and supervise student athletes Ability to interpret data Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills Experience 3 years' experience as a coach Major Responsibilities And Duties Program Planning and Instruction Direct and manage athletic programs and facilities at assigned campus. Manage and supervise athletic activities and use a variety of instructional techniques and media to promote individual growth in athletic skills, teamwork, and good sportsmanship and to improve the abilities of student athletes in the sport(s) assigned. Work with other members of school staff to plan and implement instructional goals and objectives to ensure the overall educational development of student athletes. Program Management Monitor and enforce student eligibility criteria for extracurricular activity participation. Take all necessary precautions to protect student athletes, equipment, materials, and facilities. Work with athletic director to schedule competitions and coordinate arrangements. Ensure compliance with all UIL rules. Develop and coordinate a continuing evaluation of the coaching program and make recommendations for changes based on findings. Student Management Accompany and supervise student athletes during athletic competitions both at-home and on out-of-town trips. Instruct and advise students on National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) regulations with regard to academic requirements for scholarships and recruiting practices. Apply and enforce student discipline during athletic contests, practice sessions, and while on trips off school property in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and student handbook. Encourage, by example and through instruction, sportsmanlike conduct in all phases of athletic participation. Oversee the planning and execution of athletic banquets and award presentations on the assigned campus. Communication Establish and maintain open communication with parents, students, principals, and teachers. Administration Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required. Initiate and approve purchase orders and bids in accordance with budgetary limitations. Oversee the proper care and maintenance of all campus athletic fields, facilities, and equipment including the cleaning, sanitizing, repairing, and storing of equipment and make recommendations for repair and replacement when appropriate. Supervisory Responsibilities Directs the work of coaches on assigned campus. Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors Tools/Equipment Used: Athletic equipment, standard office equipment including computer and peripherals and other instructional equipment; automated external defibrillator (AED).
