Head of Wholesale

Job Description:

Van Duzer Vineyards is hiring a Head of Wholesale to manage distributors and oversee wholesale pricing strategies, incentive programs and depletions. This is not a field-sales position. You will not be calling on individual accounts or spending your weeks on ride-withs. Instead, you will set the program direction, lead GSMs, and work directly with distributor executives to keep our brand top of mind.

This role will be rewarding to a sales professional who is equal parts data-driven and quantitative as they are personable and relationship focused.

Van Duzer has been owned and operated by the same family for almost 30 years. You will work closely with the owners to grow and execute their vision of national sales.

This role can be based anywhere in the U.S., but it is ideal for candidates in the Dallas-Fort Worth area or near Chicago, as there may be occasional travel to meet with distributors.

Responsibilities
•  Distributor management & communication: You are the face of Van Duzer to our distributor partners. You lead GSMs, hold quarterly reviews (in-person or by Zoom) for our distributor sales teams, and build and deliver the presentations that secure national account placements. You own the database of our top accounts and the distributor sales reps in every state because you drive the monthly communication to all of them.
•  Pricing and programming: You maintain the pricing data for every market that is accurate and consistency across distributors and systems. You track promotions and incentive programming by market and channel. When a distributor requests a price change or a new program, you run the numbers first and then review it with ownership for final approval.
•  Depletion and inventory analytics: You track depletions against shipments and confirm that bill backs are accurate. You manage inventory to prevent stockouts and slow-moving stock. You build the reporting to monitor program effectiveness and margin impact.

Qualifications
•  Strong quantitative background; a degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field with hands-on experience.
•  Wine industry experience is not required but will give you a leg up. You must have experience in a role that focused on pricing and sales analytics.
•  Fluent in distributor systems such as VIP; advanced in Excel; tech savvy.
•  The presence and credibility to lead in front of distributor executives, and the confidence to execute an owner’s vision.
•  Personable and genuine enjoyment of building relationships.
•  Excellent organizational and record-keeping abilities.
•  Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
