Assistant, Associate, or full Professor, General Cardiologist, VA Puget Sound Health Care System

The Division of Cardiology, Department of Medicine at the University of Washington invites applications for a general cardiologist in a clinical practice faculty position at the rank of Associate, or Professor of Clinical Practice. Specific rank will be commensurate with experience and qualifications as generally described in UW's Faculty Code Section 24-34. The successful candidate will join our faculty on a full-time basis for a twelve-month service period (July 1- June 30). This position is paid directly by VA Puget Sound Health Care System (VAPSHCS) and receives no UW compensation. This position is for a highly motivated general cardiologist for the Puget Sound Veterans Association Medical Center to become director for the Medical Specialty Care Oversight Taskforce (MASCOT) program. The primary objective of this position is to lead a team in creating a hub and spoke program aimed at establishing a cardiology network across Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and Alaska, specifically supporting veterans who live in areas with limited or no access to cardiology care. Successful candidates will have a keen interest in growing a strong telehealth presence in the Veterans Integrated Service Network (VISN 20) and developing key relationships with partners to build the region’s cardiology infrastructure. Candidates will be expected to have a track record of success in program building and managing personnel, and be committed to the VA’s mission, vision, and value of providing the highest excellence of care to our veterans. A strong background in leadership, quality improvement and Informatics is highly desirable. Clinical responsibilities will include outpatient and inpatient cardiology consultation and management and mentorship for cardiology and primary care advanced providers in the region. The cardiologist will be experienced in the diagnosis and management of coronary heart disease, heart failure, valvular heart disease, and heart rhythm disorders. Specific clinical responsibilities include outpatient consultative cardiology (including telehealth), inpatient consultation, cardiac study interpretation. Candidates must demonstrate a high level of expertise in electrocardiography, ambulatory rhythm monitoring, stress testing, and echocardiography. Candidates will directl supervise cardiologists, advanced practitioners, and echocardiography techs working within the MASCOT program and be responsible for mentorship, education and performance evaluation of these providers. This individual will report to the VISN 20 Chief Medical Officer. This position may require travel to multiple duty stations within VISN 20. All University of Washington faculty are expected to engage in teaching, research/scholarship, and service. Qualifications: MD/DO degree and have demonstrated excellence with qualifications in clinical care and education. Successful completion of an Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education or American Osteopathic Association approved post-graduate residency in cardiology ABIM Board Certified in Cardiovascular diseases.
