Elementary Principal

The Hoquiam School District is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated elementary principal who embodies the District's core pillars of Meaningful Relationships, Engaged Learners, Adaptive Pathways, and Community Connections. The ideal candidate will lead with integrity, foster a culture of teamwork, facilitate transparent communication, and provide mentorship and guidance to students and staff.

  • Develop, implement, and sustain a vision for a school culture focused on continuous student and staff learning leading to increased student achievement.
  • Sound in their instructional knowledge and understanding and is able to support and provide feedback in becoming exquisite instructors for all students.
  • Directs, supervises, facilitates, and evaluates the instructional, MTSS, and other programs of the building; is responsible for educational leadership and student achievement in the assigned building; leads staff in continuous improvement of instruction and program delivery; monitors student performance within the building.
  • Leads the development of school improvement plans and instructional practices at the building level in collaboration with teachers and district staff; coordinates the involvement of curriculum and instruction and staff development in improving instruction and programs; coordinates building involvement in the district's curriculum and program review and implementation cycle while accounting for the unique needs and strengths of the school community.
  • Has the capacity to analyze and interpret data from various sources to inform instructional practices, identify areas for improvement, and make data-driven decisions to enhance student learning outcomes.
  • Lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of program improvement plans focused on student achievement while effectively addressing and reducing achievement gaps using relevant data and research-based practices.

Adaptive Pathways: Prepare students to become future ready

  • Articulate a shared belief vision for continuous improvement and life-long learning
  • Able to assist and guide staff using the Danielson Cycle of Inquiry process, encouraging staff to reflect on their practice and grow.
  • Provides instructional leadership and professional development to all staff members.
  • Lead and manage formal student discipline processes using restorative, instructional, and equitable approaches; works cooperatively with district administrators in emergency situations.
  • The ability to navigate change, adapt to evolving circumstances, and lead the school community through transitions and new initiatives effectively.

Community Connections: Build trust and shared responsibility for student outcomes

  • Actively promote and support the District's vision, mission, and initiatives at the District and site level.
  • Engages parents and community members in supporting a positive, welcoming school environment, supportive of all students
  • Participates on committees pertinent to the operation of the district.
  • Operates and manages the school building and budgets consistent with school policy, state law and federal law.
  • Is supportive of family involvement and facilitates the progression of staff and parents toward common goals.
  • Collaborate with building and district leaders to support inclusive programming for students receiving special education services and those learning English as a second language.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's degree with an emphasis in school leadership/administration.
  • Possess a current Washington State Principal certificate or the ability to acquire the state certificate prior to July 1.
  • Possess current valid Washington State Drivers License

Desired Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated exceptional instructional leadership in previous assignment(s).
  • 3-5 years as a successful elementary administrator is preferred.
  • Prior success as an exemplary elementary or early childhood teacher preferred
  • Reading and ELL Endorsement preferred.
  • Bilingual preferred.

Residence Requirement:

Hoquiam School District administrators are required to live in Grays Harbor County, preferably within Hoquiam School District.

Salary:

218 Day Base Salary = $146,829.82 - $158,036.15

Benefits:

During the contract year the Administrator will work 218 days and shall be entitled to twelve (12) days of sick leave annually. Earned sick leave shall be cumulative as provided by state law. Three (3) of these days can be taken as personal days for reasons other than sick leave and will be deducted from the Administrator's sick leave balance. State allocation towards dental, vision, medical insurance, retirement.

Employment is contingent upon successful clearance of a Washington State Patrol, FBI fingerprint criminal history background check, and Sexual Misconduct background check.
