Maintenance Technician

Working under the general supervision of the Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Technician provides daily care and maintenance of the park.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide general garden care and maintenance
• Care for and maintain all flower beds and their surrounding landscapes
• Mow, string trim, weed, mulch, rake, sweep, prune, plant, and other related tasks
• Perform routine cleaning maintenance, including deep cleaning during the day and regular deep cleaning, disinfecting, graffiti removal, restocking supplies, and supervising and emptying trash in public and office bathrooms
• Provide general waste management care on park grounds, removing all trash
• Empty trash and recycling bins and transport them to collection areas
• Clean all paths, entrances, seating areas, perimeters, and other hard surfaces
• Operate various types of equipment, including a utility vehicle
• Maintain tools and equipment in good working order and report items requiring repair
• Assist in the preparation, setup, and breakdown of events as needed
• Cooperate with the rest of the department staff and other department members to complete assigned tasks
• Interact with park visitors in a courteous and professional manner
• Demonstrate initiative and reliability while working alone or with staff

Requirements:

• Preferred high school diploma/GED
• 1 year of landscaping and/or cleaning experience required
• Basic knowledge and experience with landscaping power equipment
• Basic knowledge and experience in electrical and plumbing is a plus
• Must be able to work as a team, follow instructions, and complete assigned tasks
• Must be able to work under pressure and maintain calm and courtesy
• Ability and willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays as part of regular shifts and occasional overtime as needed
• Ability to lift 50 pounds and perform physically intense work daily in any weather condition
• Ability to stand, walk, and bend for long periods of time
• This position is performed outdoors, in any weather condition
