Due to explosive growth, a fast-paced technology innovator in Jacksonville is launching a newly created position for a Senior Construction/Project Accountant. Operating at the intersection of high-tech and modern infrastructure construction, this role serves as the lead financial partner overseeing complex, project-based operations from start to finish.

Responsibilities

• Manage the full-cycle project accounting process from project initiation through final project closeout.
• Maintain accurate project records, including contracts, purchase orders, change orders, budgets, commitments, invoices, and other supporting documentation.
• Review, code, and record project-related invoices, expenses, labor, subcontractor costs, materials, and other project expenditures.
• Monitor project costs by category and compare actual costs to approved budgets and forecasts.
• Partner closely with Program and Project Managers to monitor the financial performance of assigned projects.
• Prepare and analyze project financial reports, including actual costs, budget-to-actual results, projected costs, gross margins, and profitability.
• Investigate significant project variances and work with Program/Project Managers to understand and document the underlying causes.
• Review customer contracts, purchase orders, billing schedules, and change orders for accounting and billing implications.
• Assist the Controller and Chief Financial Officer with the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
• Prepare project-related accruals, reconciliations, and adjusting entries as necessary.
• Assist with project revenue recognition and percentage-of-completion calculations, as applicable, in accordance with ASC 606, Revenue from Contracts with Customers.
• Misc. other duties, tasks & projects as needed
