Job Title: PACU RN Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Post-Anesthesia Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day 4x10-Hour Hours per Shift: 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM Experience: Minimum of 1 year required License: Valid compact license required Certifications: ACLS BLS PALS Must-Have: 1-2 weeknights on-call from 5:30 PM to 7:00 AM, Monday to Thursday. 1 weekend each month from Friday at 5:30 PM to Monday at 7:00 AM. Description: The position requires a registered nurse specialized in the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). The nurse will manage patients recovering from anesthesia and monitor their stability. Familiarity with patient ratios is essential, with Phase I being a 1:1 ratio and Phase II a 1:2 ratio. The nurse will address various patient needs, including managing arterial lines, administering blood products, and caring for ventilated patients. Strong skills in pain assessment and management, including use of PCA pumps, are needed. Experience with conscious sedation recovery and post-epidural management is vital. Candidates should have a good understanding of dysrhythmia recognition and management. Candidates should also have experience recovering patients from procedures involving general anesthesia, local anesthesia, and nerve blocks. Good communication skills and the ability to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams are important. Previous charge experience is preferred. References covering one year of work experience are required.
