HR Specialist

Provide support for daily human resources operations. Handle routine HR inquiries and provide responsive and knowledgeable assistance to employees.

Education: Associates degree or minimum of 60 college credit hours/bachelor's degree (preferred).

• Proficiency in keyboarding and file maintenance.
• Frequent Travel to Bob Hope School campuses on a needed basis.
• Ability to use software to develop spreadsheets, databases, and do word processing.
• Multi-tasked oriented.
• Spelling, concepts of grammar, word processing/typing.
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication (oral and written) skills.
• Detailed-oriented and working with detailed information/data.
• Reading, comprehension, and ability to perform basic mathematics.
• Ability to read, speak, and understand English.
• Working as part of a team.
• Maintain confidentiality.

Bilingual (English/Spanish fluency) preferred. Able to communicate with faculty, staff, and administrators in a courteous and professional manner.

• Two years of clerical experience.

1. Handle routine HR inquiries to ensure a high level of service and responsive, knowledgeable support for employees and their supervisors. Explain HR Policies and practices to employees as appropriate.
2. Maintain HR information database to ensure that employee information is accurate, current, and reliable.
3. Receive and process applications, including verifying completeness of files and notifying those not selected for employment.
4. Assist HR recruiter coordinator with position control system in an accurate and timely manner. Reconcile job description with position control to ensure that there is a job description for every job. Follow up with supervisors to make certain that job descriptions are reviewed and updated on a regular basis.
5. Process new hire paperwork including criminal history information, references, and other application materials

1. Prepare, maintain, and distribute employee handbook as directed.
2. Assist in the HR recruiter coordinator in preparing, distributing, or post job vacancies announcement and advertisements.
3. Prepare correspondence, forms, and reports according to district standards and requirement.

1. Answer and respond to incoming calls, take reliable messages, and route to appropriate staff.
2. Greet visitors and assist employees and applicants to complete applications and required paperwork.
3. Assist with the preparation and distribution of employment agreements.
4. Responsible for miscellaneous copying, filing, typing, and answering/making phone calls.
5. Maintains confidentiality.
6. Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
7. Always exhibits a professional demeanor.
8. Performs other duties as assigned.

Computer with appropriate software, scanner, printer, calculator, copier, facsimile machine, recruiting equipment, and other standard and specialized equipment. Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); ability to attend to detail; receive directives as assigned; work with numbers in an accurate and rapid manner; meet established deadlines and schedules; maintain accurate and auditable records; maintain emotional control under stress; work with frequent interruption. Bob Hope School is a growing open-enrollment public charter school (non-profit) providing parents a choice in their child's education. Bob Hope Elementary is a Montessori / Dual-Language campus. Instruction is conducted in a two-way immersion program, where teachers fluent in English teach ELA and those fluent in Spanish teach SLA and are supported by teacher aides with a strong command of both languages.
