Job Title: Assembler / Assembly Mechanic – Aerospace Manufacturing Job Description

This role focuses on performing complex mechanical assembly work for aircraft and aerospace components in a precision-driven manufacturing environment. You will assemble, drill, fasten, seal, and finish intricate structures by following detailed blueprints and work instructions, while maintaining high quality standards and consistent on-time performance on a 1st-shift schedule.

Responsibilities

• Assemble complex and varied aircraft and aerospace components according to detailed blueprints, specifications, and work instructions.

• Read and interpret complex engineering drawings, layouts, and assembly documentation to plan and execute each task accurately.

• Perform precise layout and drilling of holes in accordance with specifications, ensuring correct positioning, size, and alignment.

• Install a wide range of fasteners, bearings, bushings, and related hardware using appropriate hand and power tools.

• Perform countersinking, deburring, and other preparation processes to ensure proper fit and finish of assembled components.

• Apply sealants, primers, paints, and cleaning agents in accordance with process requirements and safety procedures.

• Use hand tools, power tools, and measuring devices (including tape measures) to complete mechanical assembly tasks safely and efficiently.

• Inspect assembled parts for accuracy, alignment, and quality, and make necessary adjustments to meet specifications.

• Follow all safety procedures, including the use of gloves, eye protection, and hearing protection, while working in a machine shop and assembly environment.

• Lift, move, and position parts and assemblies weighing up to 50 pounds, and perform work while standing, sitting, bending, kneeling, squatting, and walking as required.

• Maintain a clean, organized work area and handle tools and equipment with care to support a safe and efficient production environment.

• Demonstrate strong work ethic, dependable on-time attendance, and attention to detail to meet production and quality goals.

Essential Skills

• Minimum of three years of experience in aircraft or aerospace manufacturing assembly, including work on complicated and varied assemblies.

• Proven ability to read and interpret complex blueprints, specifications, and other work instructions.

• High level of experience with layout and drilling of holes, including accurate measurement and alignment.

• Demonstrated skill in installing fasteners, bearings, bushings, and related hardware, including performing countersink operations.

• Experience applying sealants, primers, paints, and cleaning agents used in assembly processes.

• Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools in a mechanical assembly or production environment.

• Mechanical aptitude and experience with mechanical assembly work.

• Ability to use measuring devices, including tape measures, to verify dimensions and tolerances.

• High school diploma or equivalent.

• Minimum of three years of assembly experience required; four to five years of experience preferred.

• Strong work ethic and drive to achieve high levels of performance.

• Detail-oriented nature with a focus on quality and accuracy.

• Dependable on-time attendance and reliability.

• Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds regularly.

• Ability to stand, sit, bend, kneel, squat, and walk on a regular basis during the shift.

• Excellent hand-eye coordination.

• Ability and willingness to wear gloves, eye protection, and hearing protection, and to adhere to all safety procedures at all times.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Prior experience as an Assembly Mechanic in an aerospace manufacturing environment.

• Experience working in a machine shop and assembly environment.

• Familiarity with aerospace manufacturing standards and practices.

• Comfort working with both assembly and machining operations within a production facility.

• Preference for candidates with four to five years of assembly experience.

Work Environment

This position is based in a machine shop and assembly environment within a very nice, well-maintained facility in Wichita, Kansas. You will work on a 1st shift schedule from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., performing hands-on mechanical assembly and related tasks. The role involves regular standing, sitting, bending, kneeling, squatting, and walking, as well as lifting and moving parts up to 50 pounds. You will use a variety of hand tools, power tools, and measuring devices in a production setting. Personal protective equipment, including gloves, eye protection, and hearing protection, is required at all times, and strict adherence to safety procedures is expected.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Wichita, KS.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $45760.00 - $49920.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
