Role: Lead AI Research Scientist As a Lead AI Research Scientist, you will drive cutting‑edge AI research and experimentation to shape the future of AI at Capital Group. Your work will power innovative solutions that elevate our leadership in asset management, including conversational assistants for investment guidance, personalized recommender systems that deliver investment content and product recommendations to clients, sophisticated time‑series models that analyze decades of data to predict clients’ next best actions, and optimization algorithms to enhance client engagement. Responsibilities Lead high‑impact research initiatives and collaborate with scientists and engineers to explore emerging techniques. Publish industry‑leading ideas that empower our broader AI community. Apply state‑of‑the‑art research to solve real‑world business challenges and deliver production‑ready innovations. Communicate complex AI concepts clearly to both technical and non‑technical audiences, influencing strategy and direction across the organization. Mentor and inspire fellow scientists and engineers, fostering a collaborative, innovative culture. Qualifications MS or PhD in Computer Science, AI, ML, or a related field. Strong academic foundation and a proven research track record. 6+ years (post‑MS) or 4+ years (post‑PhD) of experience delivering advanced AI solutions and leading complex, ambiguous projects from concept to production. Deep expertise in generative AI, LLMs, agentic systems, knowledge graphs, reinforcement learning, and advanced architectures such as Transformers and deep neural networks. Staying at the forefront of AI advancements, applying cutting‑edge techniques to real‑world challenges. Excellent communication skills, able to explain complex concepts to diverse audiences. Benefits Southern California Base Salary Range: $226,893–$363,029 San Francisco Base Salary Range: $264,594–$423,350 Competitive base salary; individual annual performance bonus; Capital’s annual profitability bonus; retirement plan with a 15% contribution of eligible earnings.
