COMPUTER TECHNICIAN

Probationary Appointment 12 Month PositionWork Schedule: 7:30am 4:00pmDescription of Duties:Maintain hardware and peripheral equipment, including PC's Macs, network hardware and cablingInstall and configure hardware/software as per department requirementsMaintain accurate inventory records on equipmentDesigns network cables plans for network installations and/or modificationsExplains revisions in software packagesDiagnoses and repairs problems associated with hardware, software and/or networkDevelops and implements schedules to provide preventative maintenanceCleans and inspects equipmentAnalyzes potential problems and takes corrective actionServes as a resource and troubleshooter to departmental personnelHas strong interpersonal skills and works well with othersRequirements:Graduation from a regionally accredited or NYS registered college or university with a bachelor's degree in computer science, micro-computer technology, computer information systems, information technology or related fieldGraduation from a regionally accredited or NYS registered two year college with an Associate's degree in computer science, micro-computer technology, computer information systems, information technology, or related field and two (2) years of paid experience in computer operations, technical support or systems development, including installation and maintenance of computer software and hardwareGraduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and four (4) years of above listed experienceAn equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of "A", "B", and "C" above
