SENIOR ACCOUNTANT | NATIONAL

Compudopt is a national non-profit organization that aims to provide technology access and education to under-resourced youth and their communities. Compudopt is searching for a Senior Accountant. This position is responsible for the organization's daily accounting operations-AP/AR, Payroll-as well as month-end close processes, and pre- and post-award grant accounting. This position will also be responsible for ensuring compliance with funders' administrative guidelines, timely receipt of revenue, accurate submission of financial reports, A-133 Audit, and orderly closure of projects. This is a hybrid position, and the candidate must be located in Atlanta, GA.

Major Job Responsibilities and Duties:

General Ledger & Month-End Close:

• Maintain and reconcile the organization's general ledger.
• Execute month-end and year-end closing processes, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
• Review accounts payable (A/P) and accounts receivable (A/R), ensuring accurate coding of revenues and expenses.
• Monitor and track paid services (earned) revenue and related expenses.
• Process payroll and allocate labor costs accurately across various programs and grants.

Grant & Fund Accounting:

• Provide basic financial oversight for funds related to grant projects.
• Monitor and track the status of each program through its program life cycle.
• Collaborate with grant managers and advise the management team on preparing grant budgets for proposals.
• Prepare and submit timely financial and expenditure reports to grantors and funding agencies.
• Actively monitor grant expenses for allowable uses of grant funds.
• Collaborate with the development team on the accuracy of the grant systems set up.

Accounting Operations Management:

• Monitor and enforce internal controls to safeguard company assets and prevent financial discrepancies.
• Train new team members in accounting software, billing, and credit card platforms, as well as company policies and internal processes.
• Document and create standard operating procedures (SOPs) for all processes.

Compliance and Audit Support:

• Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and relevant regulations.
• Prepare documentation for external audits and assist with audit processes.
• Assist in the preparation of Form 990, state charitable solicitation registrations, and other regulatory compliance filings.
• Identify and address potential audit issues.
• Submit sales tax reporting for multiple states.
• Encompass a high level of confidentiality.
• Perform other job-related duties as required.

Qualifications:

Required:

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in accounting or finance
• Minimum of 5 years' experience in accounting, finance, grant, government contracting, or other project accounting experience, with 2 years' experience leading a team
• Demonstrated experience with financial reporting and analysis.
• Demonstrated understanding and knowledge of internal controls and compliance with all controls and accounting policies.

Preferred:

• Master's degree from an accredited college or university in accounting or finance
• CPA certification
• Minimum of 7 years' experience in accounting, finance, grant, government contracting, or other project accounting experience, with 3 years' experience leading a team

Special Knowledge/Skills:

• Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams
• Experience with financial reporting and analysis
• Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
• Positive team player who is highly organized, detail-oriented, and has excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
