Are you ready to make a difference?The PositionPosition provides field coaching, mentorship and management to the field-based Medical Liaisons and develops and implements strategies aligned to identified territory archetype that: optimally manage key opinion leader/organized providers/academic institutions/integrated delivery networks and other key health care provider/organization relationships, specifically with the provision of timely and up to date scientific information relevant to health care provider needs and aligned to NNI patient value framework ensure personal development of the team, and ensure collaboration between the field-based Medical Liaison team and other NNI units / personnel. Contributes to the representation of FMA throughout the US affiliate and globally if needed; responsible for administrative and management support of field-based FMA Program at Novo Nordisk Inc (NNI). Accountable for ensuring that they lead/act, and their team act, in complete and total compliance with all laws, regulations and policies. Responsible for administrative and management support of field-based FMA Program at Novo Nordisk Inc. (NNI). Assignments are objective oriented and defined in collaboration with senior management; results assessed from a relatively long-term perspective. Establishes operating policies and procedures that affect the work unit. Develops budgets, schedules and performance standards. Strategic determination of change of region and territory prioritization will be based on health care provider need and analytics which identify need for change. This may occur at any time throughout the annual performance cycle.RelationshipsReports to Senior Director Medical Affairs. Has direct supervisory responsibility for field based Medical Liaisons in designated areas of the US. Works closely with the home office; Medical, Marketing, Sales, Legal, Human Resources and other field personnel. Works as needed with Medical Liaisons and their contacts with relevant prioritized health care providers within academic institutions; integrated delivery networks; managed care organizations and HMOs based on territory archetypes and alignment with NNI patient value framework. Strong networking/collaboration skills needed in working with sales, CTM, and DEP management. Leads briefings and technical meetings for internal and external representatives.Essential FunctionsAdvocacy & Professional Relationship Development:Leads and participates in special Area and National projects e.g., team meetings, training, etc.Maintains a thorough and detailed working knowledge of NNI, its products, current scientific research and publications associated with sameTakes a leadership role in coordinating FMA activities at assigned medical and scientific meetings and symposia. Presents at assigned symposia to maintain awareness of current industry issues and new data pertaining to NNI products, develops and maintains relationships with key health care providers, conveys appropriate use of NNI products and supports representatives in answering physicians questionsCoordination/Communication and Administration:Participates and provides industry insight to Marketing and Sales meetings, as neededProfiles and identifies key investigators to initiate and/or participate in clinical trials and identify key areas of future researchResponds to medical questions with highest integrity, compliance, and adherence to legal, regulatory and company guidelines, policies and proceduresReviews and audits direct report expense reports; manages and reviews time and activities (as collected and tracked in OSS). Closely monitors and measures activities, plans and budget to ensure desired outcomesReviews, evaluates, and channels information to the appropriate NNI personnel, if needed, and provides timely responses to requests from the Medical Liaisons for support of various activities from contacts in their respective region: (1) financial support of research, teaching, and CME activities, (2) product or technical services to conduct and/or publish research (3) technical services to aid in educational en-deavors, (4) product and disease information, and (5) participation in consulting activities or clinical studiesWorks with the field-based Regional and MM teams to improve, enhance and develop new relationships with thought-leaders .Cross Functional Support:Assists with planning and delivering presentations for Pre-POA, POA and other company meetings as directedIn collaboration with sales training, assists with education using appropriate PRB approved resources and per NNI policies on product knowledge and understanding of clinical data within the therapeutic areaManagement:Acts rapidly, appropriately, decisively and consistency in cases of observed or reported potential policy violationAssists in the recruitment and selection efforts of staff. Ensures open positions are filled in timely man-ner with best fit candidatesAssists reporting personnel in setting/reviewing annual goals and coaching them on IDPsCommunicates NNI policies, procedures (including 3P) and organizational changes to reporting person-nel; answers teams questionsCoordinates with other Field Directors to ensure consistency of training and development approach across different areas while customizing initiatives to best fit the unique needs of direct reportsEnsures that FMA personnel understand the strategic and therapeutic priorities of Novo Nordisk, that their work is focused on those priorities, and that they understand their level of accountability for results and the measurement processEvaluates MLs in field and gives timely and constructive feedback and guidance to them on their per-formance; document in iCoachMentors new Field Directors, MLs, and RMSs regarding both technical and leadership responsibilities, as directedPrepares with MLs for field: reviewing agendas, decksProvides mentoring and builds the talents of reporting personnel, particularly with respect to knowledge of technical and scientific information, business practices, and communication and motivational skills. Establishes a challenging, stimulating, productive and fair work environment, that supports rewards, both individual and team accomplishmentsSpends field time with direct reports to coach and develop personnel and ensure that unit objectives are being met. Performs appropriate workforce assessments to identify talent and gaps and plan for resource needPhysical Requirements50-75% overnight travel required. This is a Field Based position and the ideal candidate will reside in the US, preferrably on the east coast or near a major airport; Driver must maintain a valid driver's license; Must be in good standing by not exceeding the Novo Nordisk points threshold assigned based on review of Motor Vehicle Records.Development of PeopleSupervisory. Ensure that reporting personnel have individual development plans (IDP), with annual goals and measurements that are consistent with the priorities of the business, and that interim reviews are held so that their work is focused on those priorities, and they understand their level of accountability for results and the measurement process. Ensure that the IDP forms include completed learning and aspiration plans and are in place for all reporting personnel to enable the achievement of goals and capability to assume increased levels of responsibility. Manage the application and communication of all Novo Nordisk policies, procedures, and Novo Nordisk Way.QualificationsA minimum of 2-3 years of experience in ML or equivalent role requiredA minimum of 6 years previous management experience required, including at least 2 years leading field medical affairs personnel. Internal FAD experience in lieu of 6 years management experience can be substitutedA minimum of 8 years progressive pharmaceutical industry experience required, with at least 3 years of experience in a healthcare system preferredAn advanced health care or science degree (e.g., DO, MD, PharmD, PhD, DNP) requiredDecisions have a serious impact on overall success or failure on area of accountabilityDirect experience in therapeutic area (e.g. hematology, diabetes, endocrinology) is preferredProven track record of success, especially in the area of establishing relationships with opinion leaders, organized providers, strategy and team management, and significant cross-functional collaborative leadership capabilitiesRequires demonstrated ability to establish and strengthen relationships with internal and external customers and the ability to enhance and advance Novo Nordisks image and operations as a leading diabetes care companyRequires minimal supervision, the ability to proactively identify, address and resolve team-wide challenges, and be considered a valuable resource who sets a leadership example for othersRequires self-development, including leadership/personal development, reading latest scientific literature, and keeping up with competitorsRequires someone with a take-charge attitude, works autonomously and strategically, and adds creativity and value to operations on the Area and national level by leading and sharing best practicesRequires the flexibility and foresight to quickly and strategically navigate field medical personnel through a rapidly changing dynamic market spaceDemonstrates leadership skills to less experienced field directors and assists them in strategic thinking and problem solving skillsThe base compensation range for this position is $250,000 to $320,000. Base compensation is determined based on a number of factors. This position is also eligible for a company bonus based on individual and company performance.
