General Practice Veterinary Technician - Animal Medical Center of New England PetVet Care Centers' Animal Medical Center of New England is currently seeking a General Practice Veterinary Technician to join our team in Nashua, New Hampshire. Position Overview The General Practice Veterinary Technician supports veterinarians and technicians with daily clinical duties, including equipment maintenance, patient care, and clerical tasks. The role requires compassionate care for patients and effective communication with clients. Key Responsibilities Provide compassionate care to all patients. Greet patients and owners, take patient weight and vital signs at arrival. Triage patients, perform physical exams, treatments, and administer medication as directed by licensed veterinary technicians (LVT's). Calm and soothe anxious patients. Assist doctors and technicians with medication administration or patient restraint. Perform laboratory tests and take radiographs. Operate and maintain hospital equipment, including EKG, fluid pumps, syringe pumps, scales, anesthetic monitors, and other machines. Fill prescriptions, calculate and administer medications, maintain documentation and security of controlled drugs. Feed patients as prescribed, record appetites, and report abnormal conditions. Communicate positively with clients to ensure comfort leaving their pet(s). Educate clients about insurance, wellness, and medication plans. Maintain cleanliness of the hospital, including equipment, kennels, and facilities; ensure safe chemical use; complete laundry. Bath and care for patients staying overnight; ensure proper grooming before release. Adhere to hospital safety and wellness regulations. Understand and carry out oral and written directions. Maintain accurate medical records. Show up regularly; full‑time presence at work is essential. Promote hospital products and services and support the organization. Respond respectfully to urgent directions from DVMs or LVTs. Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager; additional duties may arise in specialty areas. Qualifications (Required) High school diploma or equivalent. Two or more years' experience in a veterinary environment, successfully performing all duties of this position. Ability to work with or around sick animals, hazardous materials, cleaning chemicals, gas anesthetics, zoonotic diseases, and unpleasant odors. Physical stamina for standing, walking, lifting, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and lifting up to 50 pounds. Preferred Skills Three or more years' experience in a veterinary environment. Active enrollment in a veterinary technician program. Schedule 4 days per week with rotating Saturdays.
