Join us at Concentra and see how your clinical competency and compassion can make a meaningful difference in the lives of the patients you serve.The Lead Medical Support Specialist is responsible for providing work leadership to a team of Medical Support Specialists (MSS), under the direction of the Center Operation Director (COD) to ensure clinical care is executed and exceptional service is delivered to all customers. The Lead Medical Support Specialist is responsible for completing and/or delegating tasks amongst team of MSS to remain compliant with policies and procedures as well as support the patient flow. Also performs routine medical and testing procedures under direct supervision of the treating clinician as well as supports in other areas of the facility as needed including registration and referral management.Medical Support DutiesPerform Department of Transportation (DOT) and Non-DOT drug and alcohol testingPrepare patients for physical examinations, including taking vital signs and any required or requested ancillary testing including but not limited to vaccines and injections, phlebotomy, pulmonary function tests, audiogram testing and respirator fit testingPerform rapid screening tests (influenza, strep, mono, glucose, etc.)Assist providers during examination and treatmentResponsible for performing routine medical procedures as ordered by treating clinician as well as triaging emergent patients as neededPrepare and assist clinician with procedure set up and injury careApply bandages, dressings and splints as ordered by the treating clinicianDispense medications and Durable Medical Equipment (DME) as ordered by the treating clinician in accordance with state regulationsComplete quality assurance activities on equipment and medical devices as well as testing processes used in the centerMaintain supplies, clean rooms and equipment, and stock exam roomsMaintain and operate all medical devices and equipment, including calibration and record keeping in accordance with current policy and proceduresNotify leadership immediately if equipment is not functioning properly, supplies are needed, or facility is not operating as expectedIn partnership with center leadership, assist with patient flow and volumeKeep patients informed of expected wait times during all aspects of the center visitResponsible for clerical tasks in both the front and back office associated with patient care and proper record keeping. Ensure accuracy in record keeping and documentationCross train to perform Patient Service Specialist duties: greet patients, obtain authorization, check in/out, communicate wait times, answer multi-line telephone system, and distribute employer results/paperwork as neededFollow HIPAA guidelines and safety rulesAttend center staff meetings or huddles as requiredParticipate in initial and ongoing training as requiredAssist in maintaining a neat, clean, and orderly appearance throughout the facilityPerform Human Performance Evaluations under the direction of a certified clinician or therapistLead DutiesAssign duties and responsibilities for MSS staff while monitoring patient flowMaintain all medical equipment and medical devices and facilitate maintenance as neededMaintain safety and accuracy in testing/treating patients by ensuring performance of daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance and quality control/quality assurance activities of medical equipmentEnsure that the medical center maintains appropriate stocking of supplies, equipment, medications, testing and treatment equipment for safe and proper patient treatmentFacilitate completion any applicable training including but not limited to clinical competency training that occurs monthly including for MSS staffThis job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
