PROGRAM PHILOSOPHY HER Campaign utilizes a trauma-informed, faith-informed, and holistic recovery model that addresses the integration of mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual healing. Clinical services are delivered within ASAM Level 3.3 standards and are grounded in evidence-based treatment for substance use and co-occurring disorders. Participation in spiritual activities is voluntary and client-centered. POSITION OVERVIEW The Licensed Addictions Counselor (LAC), reporting directly to the Clinical Director, provides clinical services within an ASAM Level 3.3 Clinically Managed High-Intensity residential treatment programs supporting individuals with substance use disorders, co-occurring behavioral health conditions, and survivors of human trafficking This position is responsible for conducting assessments, developing and implementing treatment plans, providing individual and therapeutic services, and supporting clinical stabilization in a structured residential setting. All services are provided under the supervision of the Clinical Director and in accordance with ASAM Level 3.3 standards of care. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Clinical Assessments and Treatment PlanningConduct intake and ASAM assessments for clients to identify substance use/mental health needs and create individualized treatment plans.Provide direct therapeutic interventions (individual, group, and crisis therapy) for residents.Coordinate with external mental health providers as needed for specialized care.Ensure SUD/mental health services are trauma-informed, culturally competent, and aligned with HER Campaign’s mission.Monitor and update individualized treatment plans in collaboration with the Clinical Director and residents.Track residents' progress and maintain detailed case notes, including data reports on mental health outcomes. Therapeutic ServicesProvide individual therapy, group therapy, and crisis intervention servicesApply evidence-based, trauma-informed clinical interventions appropriate to SUD and co-occurring disordersCoordinate with external psychiatric, medical, and specialty providers as needed Crisis and Risk ManagementProvide clinical response to escalated behavioral or emotional crisesAssess risk and implement appropriate clinical interventions within scope of licensureCollaborate with staff on de-escalation strategies and safety planningDocument all critical incidents in accordance with policy and regulatory requirements Direct Care & Resident SupportProvide direct, trauma-informed care and daily support to clients in both individual and group settings within an ASAM Level 3.3 structured residential environment.Maintain a safe, respectful, and empowering environment for all residents, ensuring trauma-informed practices are upheld at all times in coordination with clinical staff and the multidisciplinary team (MDT).Facilitate educational sessions and therapeutic group activities as assigned under the direction of the Clinical Director or designee.Assist clients in implementing personalized continuing care and treatment plans in alignment with clinically developed goals.Develop ongoing education materials aligned with HER Campaign’s trauma-informed values, in collaboration with clinical leadership.Share on-call responsibilities and provide support for residential coverage and crisis response in accordance with program policy and supervisory direction.Provide observational feedback to the clinical team regarding client engagement, behavior, and progress to support ongoing treatment planning. Trauma-Informed Training & Capacity BuildingLead trauma-informed care training internally for staff and support training efforts externally in the broader community under the direction of the Clinical DirectorPartner with the Clinical Director to equip clinical and non-clinical staff with tools to address complex trauma and support consistent application of trauma-informed practices.Facilitate workshops, seminars, or presentations for community partners, schools, and organizations. Community Engagement & AdvocacyRepresent HER Campaign on local and regional task forces, coalitions, and committees related to mental health, trafficking, or trauma care as assigned.Cultivate partnerships with other service providers, government agencies, and advocacy groups in coordination with organizational leadership.Stay current on industry trends and contribute to discussions supporting policy development and advocacy work impacting survivors, as directed by leadership. Collaboration & LeadershipWork closely with the Clinical Director to ensure a holistic approach to residents' care, balancing clinical, functional, and medical needs.Act as a clinical liaison between external service providers and the HER Campaign team, ensuring consistent care for residents.Contribute to the development of program policies, ensuring mental health components align with HER Campaign’s vision and values. Compliance & DocumentationEnsure all SUD/mental health services comply with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as HER Campaign’s internal policies.Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, case files, and reports for each resident in compliance with confidentiality laws (e.g., HIPAA).Monitor and report on clinical outcomesMaintain accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation in accordance with HIPAA, state regulations, and program policiesParticipate in clinical audits, case reviews, and quality assurance processes MDT Collaboration:Work closely with the Multiple Disciplinary Team (MDT) to ensure an integrated approach to each client’s care, with a focus on medical, mental, and emotional stabilization.Maintain regular communication with the MDT to ensure care plans are implemented smoothly and effectively.Provide clinically relevant components to staff trainingDevelop and maintain community partnerships JOB REQUIREMENTS:Time management and ability to meet deadlinesExcellent verbal and written communication skillsStrong organizational skills and ability to multitaskProblem-solving and decision makingProactivity and self-directionStrong Interpersonal skillsRelate to and effectively work with individuals that have experienced trauma and trafficking in a professional and respectful manner.Ability to maintain extreme confidentiality to the organization, clients, and staff members.Communication and teamwork: ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships. Individuals with findings involving abuse, neglect, exploitation, sexual offenses, human trafficking, or violent offenses may be ineligible for employment based on an employment fitness determination. EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION:Current Licensed Addiction Counselor (LAC) in MontanaMeets Montana education and supervised experience requirements for LAC licensure (minimum Associate or Bachelor’s degree with completion of required addiction counseling education)Minimum 1-2 years post-licensure experience in substance use disorder, behavioral health, or co-occurring treatment settings, including at least 2 years working with individuals with complex trauma histories.Experience with:Survivors of human traffickingComplex PTSD / developmental traumaCo-occurring SUD + mental health disordersHigh-acuity crisis stabilization or residential careExperience in:Residential treatment, shelter-based services, or intensive outpatient settingsCase management within high-need or vulnerable populations Employee must complete required onboarding and ongoing training as a condition of employment, including but not limited to:Trauma-informed care training and application in clinical practiceCrisis intervention/de-escalation training (CPI or equivalent)CPR and First Aid certification (must remain current)Program-specific clinical, documentation, and compliance training Employee must also meet the following conditions of employment:Successful completion of all required background checks (including criminal background, registry checks, and exclusion list screening as applicable)Negative tuberculosis (TB) screening prior to or upon hire, with ongoing testing as required by program policy or public health guidanceIf assigned to duties involving client transportation or driving on behalf of the program, employees must possess a valid driver’s license, maintain an acceptable driving record, and meet agency insurance requirements. The employee may also be regularly required to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time; regularly use hands to operate office machinery including, but not limited to, telephones, computers, fax, and photocopy machines; regularly walk, talk, and hear. WORK ENVIRONMENT While performing the duties of this position, employees may be exposed to emotionally intense or crisis situations. The work environment can at times be fast-paced, unpredictable, and may involve interactions with individuals experiencing trauma, distress, or behavioral escalations. Staff are expected to maintain professionalism, utilize de-escalation techniques, and support a culture of safety, empathy, and resilience. This role may require occasional travel, participation in community settings, or attendance at meetings outside of regular business hours. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
