The Nurse Practitioner (NP) at Woodland Recovery Center is a vital member of the clinical team, providing high-quality, compassionate care to patients in the substance abuse hospital. The NP will assess, diagnose, and treat patients struggling with substance use disorders, co-occurring mental health conditions, and other medical issues. Working collaboratively with physicians, other NPs, therapists, and nursing staff, the NP ensures comprehensive, patient-centered care that aligns with the hospital's mission of promoting recovery and wellness.ResponsibilitiesConduct thorough patient assessments, including physical exams, medical history reviews, and diagnostic evaluationsOrder, interpret, and monitor diagnostic tests, including lab work and imaging, to inform patient careDevelop accurate diagnoses for substance use disorders, co-occurring mental health disorders, and related medical conditionsDevelop individualized treatment plans, incorporating evidence-based practices for substance abuse and mental health treatmentPrescribe and manage medications, including medications for addiction treatment (MAT), following protocols and regulatory guidelinesProvide ongoing evaluation and modification of treatment plans based on patient progress, side effects, and emerging health needsEducate patients and their families on substance use disorders, treatment options, recovery goals, and relapse preventionOffer supportive counseling to motivate patients, promote health and wellness, and address any concerns related to their treatmentFacilitate group or individual therapy sessions as part of a multidisciplinary team, contributing to a supportive and therapeutic environmentCollaborate closely with physicians, nurses, therapists, social workers, and other team members to coordinate patient care and ensure a cohesive treatment approachParticipate in team meetings, case reviews, and treatment planning sessions to align patient care strategies and update treatment plans as neededAct as a liaison between the patient, family, and medical staff to ensure open communication and holistic careMaintain accurate, timely, and comprehensive medical records in compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standardsEnsure all care is provided in compliance with federal and state laws, including HIPAA, and meet hospital protocols for privacy and confidentialityParticipate in quality assurance activities, audits, and peer reviews to support the hospital's commitment to high-quality, compliant careStay current on best practices in addiction medicine, mental health treatment, and evidence-based substance abuse therapiesParticipate in ongoing education, workshops, and training sessions to maintain licensure and enhance clinical knowledgeContribute to educational initiatives for staff, patients, and families, promoting awareness and understanding of substance use disorders and recovery processesQualificationsValid Nurse Practitioner license in MississippiCertification as an NP (e.g., ANCC, AANP)Preferred QualificationsDEA license and buprenorphine waiver (or willingness to obtain for MAT) preferredMinimum of 2 years of clinical experience, with experience in substance abuse treatment, mental health, or behavioral health settings preferredMaster's or Doctorate degree in Nursing from an accredited institution, with specialization in Family, Adult, or Psychiatric Mental Health highly preferred
