JRI's Juvenile Court Clinic Program (JCCP) is seeking a Juvenile Court Clinic Psychologist for our clinical assessment program, position located at the Juvenile Court in Essex County. The JCCP provides evaluation, consultation and liaison services to the Juvenile Courts of Essex County. Compensation The pay range for this position is $110,000 to $124,000 per year. The listed range reflects what we reasonably and in good faith expect to pay for this role at the time of posting the position. The actual compensation an employee is offered may vary based on several factors such as experience, education, licensure, certifications and qualifications. This range may be modified in the future. Our courts are Lynn, Lawrence, Salem and Newburyport. The psychologist is assigned to all of them. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: If not yet CJCC certified, apply for candidacy and participate in the training and supervision process to attain certification within the timetable of the training plan. Conduct court clinic evaluations and consultations, provide quality and timely written reports and offer testimony relevant to CRA, delinquency, care and protection, aid in sentencing, need emergency mental health treatment (MGL Chapter 123, Section 12), Involuntary treatment for substance use disorder (MGL Chapter 123, Section 35), competence to stand trial, criminal responsibility and other forensic mental health questions as directed by the Court Meet with court personnel, attorneys, and collaterals as needed to help clarify referral questions and issues Ensure the confidentiality of court clinic evaluations and consultations by complying with applicable statutes, regulations and policies Be available to travel to any of the juvenile courts served by ECJCC/JRI as directed by the Program Director in order to conduct evaluations or consultations which mandate CJCC I &II participation or to provide on-site coverage. Provide consultation to the judge, probation and other court personnel following procedures [including any established in the memorandum of understanding (MOU)] for that specific juvenile court Become familiar with local resources providing mental health, substance use disorder and educational and vocational services, juvenile justice services and detention diversion programs. Familiarity with these resources includes awareness of their specific service provision and of methods (eligibility, application guidelines) of accessing them. Become familiar with community-based services including culturally specific services, after school programs, recreational and faith-based and other relevant activities. Follow established procedures for collaborating with applicable DMH service personnel including emergency service program, DMH eligibility determination and local DMH site office. Follow established procedures for collaborating with applicable state agency personnel including DCF, DYS, DDS, DPH, their vendors, and with public/private special education school programs in order to facilitate appropriate referrals and collaboration Contribute to and amend the JRI Essex County Massachusetts resource guide at monthly staff meetings and as needed. Provide specialized treatment services (within the boundaries of one’s expertise and the court clinic’s resource capacity) that are ordered by the Court and not otherwise available or accessible in the community Create and maintain court clinic records in accordance with relevant statutes, regulations, court requirements, DMH requirements and CJCC standards. Reliably record court clinic services on the court clinic database and other identified service provision documents Record court clinic service delivery on DMH/JCC database forms and forward these to the Program Director in a reliable and timely fashion. Participate in DMH/Juvenile Court consumer satisfaction procedures Participate in training identified by the Program Director including those provided by DMH to enhance relevant clinical, systems and forensic mental health knowledge and skills Comply with applicable ethical standards established by one’s professional discipline, the Guidelines for the Practice of Forensic Psychology and related policies established by the Chief Justice of the Juvenile Court. Be aware of and comply with all mandatory reporting obligations required by law If engaged in private forensic mental health work, clinicians must comply with the Guidelines for Private Forensic Evaluations for Vendor Employees established by the DMH Division of Forensic Services Attend monthly JRI-ECJCC staff meetings Be available upon request to serve on committees at the request of the DMH Division of Forensic Services Manager and of the Program Director (e.g. performance improvement teams) Staff with identified areas of clinical and/or forensic expertise will be available for consultation to court clinic and probation staff of other Massachusetts juvenile courts Create reports, correspondence, and other documents utilizing a laptop computer and MS Word (word-processing) software Receive, review (daily) and respond as needed to e‑mail communication from JRI, DMH, the Trial Court and other court clinic work stakeholders as appropriate Learn and utilize new software applications as program needs dictate. Perform other juvenile court clinic duties as assigned by the Program Director. Why JRI? Be who you are! Must hold an independent psychologist license in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. The certification as a Certified Juvenile Court Clinician I & II is preferred. Clinical experience in the assessment and treatment of children/adolescents and their families is required. Experience working with court-involved juveniles is preferred.
