Orthopedic Physician Assistant

The Orthopedic Physician Assistant assists, monitors, and manages the day-to-day needs of patients as requested by, in conjunction with, and under the supervision of a physician. Performs the duties and responsibilities of a Physician Assistant according to customary and generally accepted medical standards. The Physician Assistant will report to the office five days a week to handle routine visits, triage new patients and manage post-operative visits. Weekend on-call on a rotating basis will be required. Every fourth weekend and holiday work as needed on-call commitment required.

Responsibilities include providing medical services under the supervision of a licensed physician, performing and documenting accurate, complete, and relevant history and physical assessments, ordering, performing, and interpreting laboratory tests and diagnostic studies/procedures, managing general medical and surgical conditions, prescribing medication safely and effectively, promoting Hackensack Meridian Health PA practice recognition, providing patient- and family-centered care, practicing as a healthcare provider according to the rules and regulations, applying evidence-based and value-based medicine, evaluating patient/family transition of care planning, demonstrating clinical expertise, translating best practice into clinical practice, providing culturally sensitive and educationally appropriate health management education, facilitating consistent, coordinated care, serving as an advocate for patients and families, serving as a clinical resource for the multidisciplinary team, participating in organizational and departmental meetings, demonstrating the highest level of accountability for professional practice, promoting a collaborative work environment, mentoring other PAs, precepting students in PA programs, identifying patient/family educational needs, promoting innovation, participating in clinical research activities, identifying ethical care issues, complying with HMH and department-specific scope of services, adhering to HMH infection control and safety policies, and other duties and/or projects as assigned.

Qualifications include successful completion of an approved physician's assistant program, excellent written and verbal communication skills, proficient computer skills, physician assistant license, national commission on certification of physician assistants, BLS AHA basic health care life support HCP certification, and advanced cardiac life support certification.

Compensation minimum rate of $149,177.60 annually. Hackensack Meridian Health is committed to pay equity and transparency for team members. The posted rate of pay is a reasonable good faith estimate of the minimum base pay for this role at the time of posting in accordance with the New Jersey Pay Transparency Act and does not reflect the full value of the market-competitive total rewards package. The starting rate of pay is provided for informational purposes only and is not a guarantee of a specific offer. Posted hourly rates may be stated as an annual salary in the offer and posted annual salaries may be stated as an hourly rate in the offer, depending on the level and nature of the job duties and credentials of the candidate. The base compensation determined at the time of the offer may be different than the posted rate of pay based on a number of non-discriminatory factors, including but not limited to: labor market data, experience, education and certifications, skills, geographic location, internal equity, budget and grant funding. Some jobs may also be eligible for performance-based incentives, bonuses, or commissions not reflected in the starting rate. Certain positions may also be eligible for shift differentials for work performed on evening, night, or weekend shifts.
