The University of Maryland Capital Region Medical Center is hiring a Full-Time Surgical Nursing Coordinator (RN) to join our Surgical Services team. This role is ideal for an experienced perioperative RN who brings strong clinical expertise, leadership, and hands-on Operating Room experience. The Surgical Nursing Coordinator serves as a clinical resource for the surgical team, supporting safe, efficient case flow while partnering closely with surgeons, nursing leadership, OR staff, Central Sterile Processing, scheduling, and procurement.
Full Time | 6:45 a.m. to 5:15 p.m.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide clinical expertise and leadership within Surgical Services.
- Coordinate specialty team operations and support safe, efficient surgical case flow.
- Serve as a clinical resource for perioperative staff and assist with complex patient care needs.
- Collaborate with surgeons and interdisciplinary partners to anticipate procedural, equipment, instrumentation, and supply needs.
- Support staff education, orientation, competency development, coaching, and mentoring.
- Maintain clinical expertise in perioperative nursing, instrumentation, and surgical technology.
- Support quality and performance improvement initiatives, regulatory compliance, patient safety, and infection prevention.
- Manage specialty supplies, equipment, preference cards, inventory, and readiness for surgical procedures.
- Promote teamwork and effective communication across the surgical team.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Licensure & Experience:
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Maryland or Compact eligibility in accordance with MBON, required.
- Valid American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required within 6 months of employment.
- Associate Degree in Nursing required.
- 1-3 years of nursing experience, required.
- Minimum 1 year of surgical circulating and scrub experience, required.
- Specialty certification, preferred.
- Strong clinical leadership, communication, problem-solving, and staff development skills.

Compensation:
- Pay Range: $43.30 - $54.90 per hour.
