CNC Machinist

Job Description CNC Machinist Operates and programs computer numerical control (CNC) machines to produce precision metal parts, reading blueprints, setting up machines, setting up machine tools, writing / editing programs, and adjusting to ensure quality. Performance Expectations Complete change-over activities (Machine preparation from previous job set-up to new job set-up) Complete manufacturing of first part per process instruction Complete machine program edits and offsets to ensure successful capability review and long-term maintenance of programs Review supplied raw material for dimensions, quantity, defects, and required heat lot/certification numbers Manufacture parts to required quantity Document manufactured quantities utilizing ERP system Inspect and document parts according to in-process inspection sheet requirements Troubleshoot parts when issues occur Work with the Engineering department to improve machining processes Stabilize machining processes to turn over to Operator for production run Train Operators as needed on job related items Maintain work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition and follow prescribed safety procedures Document completion of all required processes in ERP system Provide end-of-shift report detailing activities of the shift Performs additional duties as required Credentials High School Diploma or GED 3-5 years’ experience setting up and operating CNC milling and/or turning machines Desired Characteristics Proficient in setup, programming, operation and maintenance of CNC equipment Proficient in Microsoft Office applications Understanding of tool steels Ability to G-code program preferred Mechanical aptitude and skill Communication skills Basic computer skills Proficient in blueprint reading and interpretation Understands metric and standard measuring system Experience with gauges such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, etc. What Linamar Has to Offer Competitive Compensation Employee Benefits package includes but not limited to, Drug, Dental & Vision etc. Opportunities for career advancement Sustainability Counsel Community based outreach supporting both local and global initiatives and charities Discounts for local vendors and events, including auto supplier discounts.
