Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical Surgical / Telemetry (Oncology Acute Tele)

Contract | Days | 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a 32-bed Oncology Acute Telemetry unit with a 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio, serving approximately 85% oncology and 15% medical-surgical/telemetry patients including surgical, medical, and oncology diagnoses.
• Interpret EKG rhythms using Philips telemetry monitoring system and manage patients on Bipap and CPAP ventilatory support.
• Perform and maintain competency in sterile field procedures including Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes, as assessed through a mandatory SIMs Lab evaluation.
• Document all patient care activities accurately using Cerner EMR.
• Float to other Medical Surgical/Telemetry units as needed and participate in a weekend rotation of at least one weekend per month, with holidays worked into rotation.
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team including PCTs, SWAT RN IV team, 24/7 Respiratory Therapy, and 24/7 Pharmacy support.

Required Qualifications

• Active and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications.
• Demonstrated competency in sterile field technique, Foley catheter insertion, and central line dressing changes — proficiency in these skills is required as they are assessed in a pass/fail SIMs Lab during orientation.
• Ability to interpret EKG rhythms independently.
• Must pass a facility-required competency exam on Day 1 of orientation (study guide provided).
• Must meet facility appearance standards including natural hair color, no facial piercings, and clean-shaven face for males (required for fit testing).

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Chemotherapy certification or prior oncology nursing experience strongly preferred.
• Previous experience with Cerner EMR.
• Experience in a charge nurse or resource RN capacity is a plus.
