Sustainability's Union Food Organization Associate Work Study

This position is only available to students who qualify for Work-Study at Union College. The Union Food Organization (UFO) Associate will support the coordination and execution of the college’s food recovery and donation initiative. Department: Sustainability | Location: Facilities Services & Reamer Dining | Supervisor: Sustainability Manager | Hours/Shift: 10 hrs/week | Rate: $9.70/hr | Positions: 3 Essential Responsibilities and Duties Collaborate with Dining Services, the Office of Sustainability, and community partners to coordinate food recovery efforts. Safely collect, label, and store leftover food according to campus and health‑safety guidelines. Log donation quantities and delivery details for reporting and compliance. Assist with scheduling and training other student workers or volunteers involved in the food donation process. Communicate with local organizations and ensure delivery or pick‑up of donations. Create promotional materials (flyers, social media posts, etc.) to raise awareness about the initiative. Maintain accurate records and assist with program evaluation and data collection. Perform other related duties as needed to support the mission. Qualifications Reliable, responsible, and organized. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Comfortable working in dining settings and following food safety procedures. Passion for sustainability, community engagement, or food justice. Familiarity with Excel or Google Sheets for data tracking is preferred.
