Part Time Office Clerk - Matt Arthur Elementary

Clerk

This position provides clerical support within a department of central office or a school.

Essential duties and responsibilities include:

1. Interacting effectively with the general public, staff members, students, teachers, parents, and administrators, using tact and good judgment.
2. Composng routine correspondence, e-mails, newsletters, and other materials.
3. Maintaining files, accurate records, and other important information associated with the position.
4. Answering telephones, responding to inquiries, taking messages, or transferring calls appropriately. Greeting visitors, ascertaining nature of business and directing visitors appropriately.
5. Performing data entry as assigned.
6. Receiving, stamping, and distributing mail to appropriate personnel.
7. Assisting in maintaining efficient office operations by providing clerical relief whenever and wherever needed.
8. Operating various equipment associated with the department, such as computer, fax machine, copier, as well as equipment developed or advanced from future technology as required by the job.
9. Performing other duties assigned by the department head or appropriate supervisor.

Qualifications:

1. High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required.
2. Certificate or License Required: N/A
3. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
4. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to create graphs.
5. Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
6. Must have considerable knowledge of Microsoft Office Products.
7. Must be capable of interacting effectively with administrators, teachers, staff members, students, parents, and the general public using tactful and helpful customer service.

Physical demands include:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand, and lift. Occasionally, the employee must crouch or kneel. The employee must be able to exert or lift up to 25 pounds.

The work environment is usually moderate in noise level.

Must serve as a role model to students. Desirable personal characteristics are required. Appropriate dress and grooming consistent with established standards required. Must be at work on time, adhere to attendance standards and conduct activities safely.
