Shift Utility (5 PM - 5 AM)

This position is based at our Hampton Farms location in Lubbock, TX.

The Company


Hampton Farms is the leading In-Shell Peanut Company in the US. We are also a leading producer of other types of nuts and nut butters for the retail and commercial markets. Job Purpose


The Shift Utility will work closely with the Management Team and be responsible for supporting the day-to-day activities of the Machine Operations. This position is responsible for evaluating and maintaining the quality standards and systems as set forth by the customer and by the company. This role will require effective and timely communication with the team and department managers. This role is focused on ensuring a smooth and efficient production flow by accounting for staffing and processing needs.


Shift: Rotating 12-hour shift schedule 5 PM - 5 AM (3-4 times per week)


Starting Pay: $25 per hour plus a $2 per hour shift differential


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Work assigned shift in our peanut roasting, peanut butter producing and packaging facilities. This is a food manufacturing environment.
• Work with minimal oversight and willing to follow directions closely.
• Operate designated machinery in the facility according to training provided, trouble shoot equipment and changeover if equipment requires.
• Fill in as coverage for every position within our production line. This coverage will be for operators off shift or on breaks.
• Operation of NetSuite system:
• Bin transfers
• Work order completions/creations
• Checking inventory levels-pack storage
• Tagging of materials
• Participate in product/line changeovers.
• Paperwork and Documentation
• Assist with training of new operators.
• Enforce GMP and PPE requirements.
• Identify and initiate continuous improvement suggestions on the production floor.
• Lift bags and/or boxes weighing as much as 50 lbs.
• Move drums weighing as much as 500 lbs. utilizing a specialized hand cart.
• Stand on their feet for multiple hours.
• Travel up and down stairs and crossovers.
• Perform any other duties that are asked of them by the supervisors/managers (Even if the task does not pertain to their position).
• Maintain a sanitary work environment that promotes employee cleanliness and meets all regulatory requirements.
• May work in all areas of the plant(s) to maintain areas in accordance with Master Sanitation Schedules.
• Clean and sanitize using verified chemicals within the plant.
• Open and flexible to occasional fluctuating/flexing hours based on business need and customer order shipment scheduling.

Education and/or Experience

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Must be willing to work in production and manufacturing environments.
• Must be able to successfully E-Verify, background check and drug screen.
• Manufacturing experience is strongly desired.
• Any experience in food manufacturing and GMP knowledge is ideal.
• Forklift experience is a plus.
• Prior leadership experience is a plus.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

• None Required.
• Safety and/or sanitation certifications in manufacturing a plus.

Work Environment

• A food manufacturing atmosphere that requires employees to work in a production/plant environment where physical hazards such as industrial equipment and forklifts may be present.
• While this position is primarily indoors, the production floor can increase or decrease in temperature during the winter and summer months, or due to ambient heat from the equipment in a particular area.
