Job Description JOB OVERVIEW The Chemical Area Technician Level 2 manufactures Lead Styphnate, Tetrazene, Tri-Nitro Resorcinol (TNR), Washes, vacuum, and weighs up the product as well as Primer Fines and Pentaerythritol Tetranitrate (PETN). They transport, log and record movements of said products to adhere to company and Governmental agencies as needed. This position reports to the Primer Manager and is based out of the Lonoke Facility. As the Chemical Area Technician Level 2, you will have an opportunity to: · Observes all applicable safety rules and reports or corrects any potential safety hazard. · Follows procedures to produce Lead Styphnate, Tetrazene, Tri-Nitro Resorcinol (TNR). · Wash, vacuum, and weigh up, Primer Fines and Pentaerythritol Tetranitrate (PETN) · Treats hazardous waste in accordance with FCC’s permit and all applicable regulations and internal requirements. · Maintain logbooks for traceability of lot numbers and government agency requirements. Logbooks located in 712, 711, 706, 707, Red Bunker, 725, 726, 718, 720, and 722. · Maintains a very clean work area. This is to include duties such as sweeping or shoveling snow from steps, docks, and walkways. Occasionally is required to assist in the cleaning of settling tanks (Olnol and Lead Nitrate solution tanks) as well as Aminoguanidine (AGB) Sulfate Solution and Sodium Nitrate Solution tanks. Also, may include cleaning Reverse Osmosis (RO) Water tanks. · Inventory Chemicals and finished products on a daily, weekly or monthly basis to maintain an adequate supply for production needs. · Transports raw material and finished product by truck and occasionally utilizes material handling equipment such as a pallet jack (manual and electric) and forklift. · Interacts with the Supervisor, Chemist and fellow employees to provide cross training, cover absences and make other similar routine decisions. · Maintains the area around the control systems (camera systems) as well as the break room. This includes sweeping and cleaning the areas daily. (this includes break tables, microwaves, and refrigerator used by employees) · Using weed eater around steps and building area of bunkers during downtime. (waiting on pH levels, or long vacuum times) · Perform related projects and duties as assigned or as the need arises. You have: · Highschool Diploma · Excellent Safety Record and demonstrated ABOVE AVERAGE SAFE WORK HABITS. · Computer skills · Demonstrated ability to read, understand, and follow written and oral procedures and instructions. · Strong organizational skills. Working Conditions/Physical Requirements Physical Requirements: Standing and moving about 75% of the time. Frequent lifting, moving, pushing and pulling objects weighing up to 30 pounds; occasional lifting and moving up to 50 pounds. Near vision for making fine adjustments and detecting quality defects and far vision for operations of forklift or other mobile equipment. Periodic climbing, stooping, bending and kneeling are also required. Mental Requirements: High level of attentiveness is required for safety and detection of problems. Reading comprehension to understand, interpret and follow a high level of detailed written and oral procedures and instructions. Math comprehension to be able to work effectively with numbers and carry out quick and accurate calculations. Interpersonal communication skills to problem-solve and to function effectively as part of a work team. Flexibility to move between jobs and to handle many tasks simultaneously. Equipment Used: Explosive Vehicle and Operation of forklift and other mobile equipment. Personal Protective Equipment: All positions require the use of safety glasses, Conductive shoes and or Conductive Boots, Conductive Apron, gloves and at times a full-face shield as well as the use of a respirator. Working Environment: Shift is 10-hr days with start and stop times ranging between 2:00am-12:30pm, and typically 12 hours with Overtime. Overtime is sometimes needed to meet business needs. Exposure to a wide variety of chemicals. Work is most often done with and around others and as part of work teams and back-up from co-workers and/or supervisor is generally available. Work Environment: Employee work assignments may include tasks working with and/or exposure to potentially hazardous areas, including flammables and explosives. Safety training is provided to all employees to ensure compliance with company and federal regulations. Pay Range: Starting Hourly Rate: $25.12 The actual annual salary offered to a candidate will be based on variables including experience, geographic location, education, and skills/achievements, and will be mutually agreed upon at the time of offer.
