Assistant Press OperatorSt. Charles, ILCompensation IncludesPay Range: $24.64/hr - $32.17/hr + $1.00 shift differential for the 2nd shiftAvailable Shift2nd: 3:00pm - 11:00pm, Monday - FridayOverviewAssistant Press Operator position is responsible for consistently operating a zone of press machines at or above standard levels of operation considering waste, efficiency, and utilization. Troubleshoot, identify, and correct machine related problems through proper adjustments to various parts of the machine. Provide innovative solutions for production problems.ResponsibilitiesReads and understands job jacket to ensure production is running according to specificationPerforms machine make-ready to set it up to run proper productionPerforms quality checks according to established procedures to ensure all Quality Standards (Color matches and Registration) are being metTroubleshoots defects and other elements of the process as neededRecords and maintains data related to downtime, including amount of time, reason for downtime, and actions to correct problemAssists operator with shift documentation and quality control checklistsEnters daily production data on PC located at Press and adjustments to press that are controlled by computerPerforms machine trouble shooting and makes adjustments to correct quality or efficiency problems related to machine, set up, or mechanical defectSet web path per job and color rotationAssist with print set up during start-upKeeps all waste and scrap within company guidelinesFills out all pre-make ready and make ready checklistEnsures correct inks are in place and are changed out when necessaryAssist in removal of W.I.P pallets from pressCreates load tags for finished palletsMaintains a clean and orderly work areaComplete LOTOAssist in training of new employeesQualifications2 years printing experienceDemonstrated problem solving skillsAbility to use hand tools to remove, install, and adjust parts of machinePrevious experience working in an assistant or press operator/pressman position is preferredPrevious working Flexo or Gravure presses is preferredPhysical Requirements & Environmental ConditionsWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walkUses hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools and controlsThe employee frequently is required to talk and hear to communicate with crew membersRequired to climb, stoop, bend and reach with hands and arms.The employee is occasionally required to push or pull with hands or arms, kneel or crouchThe employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 poundsSpecific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to distinguish shades and colorsStrong verbal and written communication skillsAbility to work independently and effectively with little to no supervisionPositive work attitude and willingness to cooperateAbility to work in a team environmentThe noise level in the work environment is consistently above 85 decibelsAble to work with dust from paper converting processThe employee constantly works near moving mechanical parts and lift trucksAmbient temp and humidity may be elevated during the summer months
