Histology Technician I

Overview Monitors the technical functions within histology, including quality of work, procedures and methods, and expenses. Performs the duties of a staff histotechnician. The Histology Technician ensures laboratory compliance with standards set by JCAHO, DHEC, CLIA, and the College of American Pathologists (CAP). Responsibilities Monitor and ensure accuracy and quality of histology procedures and processes. Support compliance with applicable regulatory and accreditation standards. Collaborate with laboratory staff to identify and resolve problems and improve workflow. Qualifications Education: Associate degree from an accredited college/university. Experience: No experience required. Licensure, Certifications, Registrations: HT(ASCP) certification by the American Society of Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP BOC) or equivalent preferred; if not certified, must have completed a NACCLS Accredited HT/HTL Program and be certification eligible. Certification must be achieved within 1 year of hire; until certification is achieved, salary will be 10% less.
