Real Estate Associate (Investments and Asset Management)

Opportunity and Position Summary Join our dynamic team as a Real Estate Associate! In this role, you will own the day-to‑day asset management of a diverse, multi‑asset‑class portfolio, including multifamily, hotel, and retail properties. Reporting directly to senior leadership, you will serve as the primary point of contact for these assets, driving financial and operational performance, leading recurring reporting and partner calls, and managing capital and financing initiatives from concept through execution. This is a high‑visibility role with broad ownership across the full asset management lifecycle, combining qualitative and quantitative responsibilities and requiring strong financial, analytical, communication, and project management skills. Primary Duties and Responsibilities Lead the review of monthly financial reporting packages across multifamily, retail, and hotel assets, and approve monthly financial data submitted to lenders Manage the annual business planning and budgeting process for assets across the portfolio, partnering with internal leadership and third‑party operators Oversee capital expenditure programs end to end: scope, design, timeline, and cost Source, evaluate, and manage third‑party vendors and contractors for capital and renovation projects, including preparing and reviewing RFQs and competitive bids, selecting contractors, and overseeing execution through completion Manage refinancing and financing initiatives across the portfolio, including preparing and reviewing lender presentations, coordinating third‑party diligence, and developing recommendations on loan terms, sizing, and lender selection Lead recurring asset management calls with operating partners, covering revenue, renewals, capital expenditures, and marketing Conduct periodic site visits and property inspections Manage portfolio compliance and reporting obligations, including tax appeals, lender compliance requests, and the portfolio’s mortgage dashboard Oversee insurance and risk policy reviews and help manage legal and insurance claims Identify and implement operational process improvements and new technology, including AI tools, to streamline workflows and enhance reporting Develop and implement turnaround strategies for underperforming assets Requirements All candidates must have a BA or BS degree from an accredited institution, with preferred degrees in real estate, finance, business, accounting, economics, or a related area. Candidates must possess robust academic qualifications Strong interest in real estate and 2–4 years of real estate finance, asset management, or related experience Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills; this will be tested in the interview process Working knowledge of real estate debt and capital markets, including loan documents, covenants, and the refinancing and loan‑sizing process Demonstrated ability to take ownership of projects and manage multiple workstreams simultaneously from start to finish Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and consistently meet deadlines Strong attention to detail and well‑developed organizational and project management skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to interact directly with lenders, operating partners, and senior leadership Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to make sound, independent decisions Ability to prioritize, multi‑task under pressure, and work both independently and collaboratively Leadership ability and a willingness to mentor and develop analysts Positive attitude and desire to take ownership of work product Location and Work Arrangement This position is based at AVR Realty’s headquarters in Yonkers, NY. The role follows a hybrid schedule with three days per week in the office, subject to change at the company’s discretion. Compensation and Benefits The base pay scale for this position is $115,000 plus annually. AVR’s base pay scale depends on geographic location, business line, years of experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate. The successful candidate will be eligible for a bonus.
