Sr. Cost Accountant

Job Description We are looking for an experienced Sr. Cost Accountant to support manufacturing finance operations in Ocala, Florida. This Long-term Contract position focuses on strengthening cost visibility, maintaining accurate standard costing, and delivering meaningful analysis that supports operational and financial decision-making. The ideal candidate brings strong expertise in manufacturing environments and can translate detailed cost data into practical business insights. Responsibilities Oversee cost accounting activities for manufacturing operations, ensuring financial data is accurate, timely, and aligned with business objectives. Maintain and refine standard cost structures by reviewing material, labor, and overhead components and updating them as needed. Analyze production costs, inventory movements, and variances to identify trends, explain results, and recommend corrective actions. Partner with plant leadership, operations, and finance teams to improve cost controls and support informed planning decisions. Prepare recurring and ad hoc reports that highlight cost performance, margin impacts, and key drivers affecting profitability. Support month-end and period-end close activities related to inventory valuation, cost allocations, and manufacturing expense reporting. Review existing costing processes and contribute to improvements in data accuracy, reporting efficiency, and financial controls. Assist with cost-related system updates or process changes when needed, ensuring continuity in reporting and analysis. Qualifications Strong background in cost accounting with direct experience in manufacturing environments. Proven knowledge of standard costing principles, including variance analysis and inventory valuation. Ability to perform detailed cost analysis and translate findings into clear business recommendations. Experience supporting financial close activities related to production, inventory, and overhead accounting. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with close attention to detail. Ability to work cross-functionally with operations, plant leadership, and finance stakeholders.
