Asset Manager

Perform and supervise loan administration duties for commercial mortgage loans on behalf of the lender, focusing on income-producing real estate collateral Support processing of borrower requests and general enforcement of loan requirements Produce, review, correct and approve analyses of operating and financial statements for commercial properties and sponsors Perform or review third-party property inspections; identify maintenance, life-safety and deferred-maintenance issues; prepare reports for lenders Analyze, underwrite and recommend borrower requests, including loan modifications, collateral releases, prepayment, maturity extensions, sales/assumptions and tenant-lease consents Analyze and process reserve-account fund release requests and approve releases within policy limits Analyze insurance loss claims and recommend and approve disposition of insurance proceeds within established limits Interface with property managers, borrowers and paying agents regarding delinquent loan payments; prepare demand letters and notices of default Direct accounting for suspense and unapplied funds and report delinquencies to investors/lenders Maintain and approve updates to the loan servicing system database and related accounting, collateral and borrower records Identify and report breaches of loan-document requirements and mentor department members on loan covenants Analyze asset performance and recommend loan risk grades and watch-list status Supervise and train Asset Analysts Assist with process improvement and regulatory and contractual compliance Requirements Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and related training Five years of experience with commercial real estate, with at least three of those years being with finance Good written and verbal communication skills Ability to travel, occasionally overnight Ability to efficiently and consistently produce accurate work Strong working knowledge of loan accounting concepts, including interest accrual methodologies and amortization Ability to read and comprehend most provisions of common commercial real estate loan documents Ability to efficiently compose accurate and effective reports and written recommendations to lenders Intermediate-level skills with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word Basic-level skills with Adobe Acrobat, including creation and manipulation of PDF files English language fluency required Preferred: Master of Business Administration or equivalent experience Preferred: Experience with commercial property management Preferred: Working knowledge of commercial lending programs of Life Insurance Company lenders, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac and CMBS conduits Preferred: Experience in commercial mortgage loan underwriting Preferred: Ability to analyze commercial property operating statements Preferred: Certification in commercial property inspections Preferred: Working knowledge of commercial building construction and construction lending Preferred: Working knowledge of real estate law concepts and practical application Core Competencies Demonstrates expertise in commercial mortgage loan administration, including underwriting, loan modifications, and compliance with loan covenants.
