Scope of the Role

• Operational leadership role responsible for workshop operations, facility readiness, operational excellence, and compliance
• No direct responsibility for engineering design decisions or technical authority
• Critical enabler for successful project execution, operational efficiency, workshop readiness, and customer satisfaction
• On-site workshop-based position with occasional domestic travel
• Direct leadership responsibility for workshop operations support personnel

Position Summary

Bertrandt is seeking an experienced  Sr. ADAS Operations Manager to oversee the safe, compliant, and efficient operation of a prototype vehicle workshop. This leader will ensure the infrastructure, equipment, processes, staffing support, and operational controls are available when needed to support successful workshop execution and project delivery.

The position owns operational readiness across workshop operations, facility management, safety compliance, team leadership, and continuous process improvement while partnering closely with project management, engineering, corporate functions, finance, and compliance teams.

Key Responsibilities:

Operational Leadership and Planning

• Lead day-to-day workshop operations and ensure operational readiness of staffing, equipment, workspace, and supporting services
• Align priorities, capacity, and resource availability with project managers, engineering leads, workshop leads, and business stakeholders
• Serve as the escalation point for operational constraints, facility issues, equipment availability concerns, and workshop support requirements
• Develop operational plans, budgets, forecasts, KPIs, and management reporting in coordination with project leadership
• Coordinate business continuity, backup coverage, and recovery plans for critical operational processes

Workshop & Facility Management

• Own workshop layout, space allocation, storage management, utilities, work areas, housekeeping standards, and infrastructure planning
• Coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance activities for workshop equipment, tools, building systems, and utility services
• Manage workshop access controls, visitor procedures, badge administration, asset protection, and customer-specific security requirements
• Plan and implement infrastructure improvements to support changing business and project needs
• Maintain records related to maintenance, calibration, inspections, permits, and service providers as applicable

Safety, Environmental & Regulatory Compliance

• Implement and monitor workplace safety procedures consistent with OSHA requirements, customer expectations, and internal standards
• Coordinate risk assessments, inspections, safety training, incident investigations, corrective actions, and emergency preparedness activities
• Ensure compliant handling, storage, labeling, documentation, and transportation of hazardous materials and dangerous goods
• Maintain audit-ready records and support customer, regulatory, internal, and certification audits
• Partner with Environmental Health & Safety, Security, Legal, and Compliance representatives on matters requiring subject matter expertise

Team Leadership

• Lead, coach, and develop Operations Specialists and workshop support personnel
• Establish responsibilities, priorities, objectives, and performance expectations aligned with project management goals
• Plan schedules, assign work, monitor execution, and address performance or capability gaps
• Ensure employees and temporary personnel receive required process, safety, equipment, and site training before performing assigned duties
• Promote accountability, collaboration, operational excellence, and continuous improvement

Process Excellence & Corporate Coordination

• Document, standardize, and improve processes related to procurement support, inventory management, logistics, vendor management, workshop operations, facilities, safety, and reporting
• Implement practical controls that improve transparency, scalability, segregation of duties, accuracy, and audit readiness
• Utilize operational data and KPIs to improve inventory accuracy, vendor performance, service levels, cost management, and issue resolution
• Act as the primary operational liaison with Bertrandt US corporate functions and support implementation of global standards and initiatives
• Support cross-functional projects and additional operational responsibilities as required

Requirements:

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Operations Management, Business, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience
• 7+ years of progressive experience in workshop operations, facility operations, technical operations, manufacturing support, or a related environment
• 3+ years of experience leading employees, contractors, or cross-functional operational teams
• Demonstrated experience managing workshop operations, facility readiness, operational processes, resource planning, and cross-functional coordination
• Working knowledge of workplace safety requirements and operational compliance controls
• Experience utilizing maintenance, facility management, project tracking, ERP, or related business systems
• Strong planning, prioritization, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills
• Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional and international environment
• Ability to communicate effectively with both operational personnel and executive management
• Ability to work primarily on-site, travel domestically as needed, and provide occasional support outside standard business hours when operationally necessary

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in automotive, prototype vehicle, ADAS, engineering, manufacturing, R&D, or other controlled workshop environments
• Formal training or certifications in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Project Management, Safety, Facilities Management, or Operational Excellence
• Experience supporting prototype builds, vehicle development activities, testing operations, or engineering workshop environments
• Experience managing operational improvement initiatives and facility enhancement projects
• German language skills are beneficial but not required
