Principal Presales Systems Engineer

Job Description

As a Principal Presales Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for managing pre‑sales technical and functional support to prospective clients and customers while ensuring customer satisfaction. You will present and articulate the capabilities and values of an HPE Network Solution versus the solutions of competitors, work with Territory Managers to qualify opportunities, and convert leads into successful engagements. Your role will combine excellent sales support and consultative skills with an expert understanding of advanced and emerging technologies, with an emphasis on campus and distributed branch networks. You will provide a comprehensive pitch to prospective clients, support an opportunity pipeline, and drive the sales process to closure. The role requires the ability to lead within a team environment, collaborate on the development of innovative, tailored solutions, and gather client data to effectively tailor a solution. Solution selling is essential, as is the ability to anticipate what will work best for each client. By combining technical expertise with business acumen, you will provide vital, detailed information about how HPE Networking solutions deliver business value.

Responsibilities

• Manage account and partner responsibilities for selected accounts in assigned territory.
• Provide the optimum combination of hardware, software, and services to meet complex customer needs.
• Play a role in the development of the bid, proposal, and presentation of the solution to the prospect.
• Provide specific solutions, technology, product, and sales support for accounts in assigned territory.
• Deliver technical presentations to customers, partners, and potential prospects.
• Manage channel partners to help drive business and deliver demand‑generation events.
• Develop account relationships over time to continue to deliver advice to the customer and identify additional opportunities; maintain and manage a sales pipeline and forecasts against regional goals.
• Possess competitive knowledge including solution, technology, and product offerings.
• Provide consultative support to key internal and external stakeholders in assigned territory.
• Use in‑depth product knowledge to provide technical expertise to sales staff and the customer through sales presentations and product demonstrations. Assist the sales staff in assessing potential application of company products to meet customer needs.
• Prepare detailed product specifications for the development and implementation of customer products, applications, and solutions.
• Create detailed design and implementation specifications for complex products, applications, and solutions.
• Build a proof of concept based on customer requirements to demonstrate feasibility of the application, often requiring rapid prototyping and/or product demo for client.
• Provide consultation to prospective users and/or product capability assessment and validation.

Experience

• Juniper Networking background and expertise is required.
• Approximately 10 years of infrastructure engineering and some experience with successful pre‑sales support is preferred.
• Career‑level oral and written communication, organizational, presentation, prioritization, and interpersonal skills.
• Must be customer focused and have the ability to design and manage solutions to complex technical issues.
• Ability to interface with senior levels of internal and external organizations is required.

Compensation

Annual Salary USD 184,500 - 357,500 in Colorado // 175,000 - 411,500 in Virginia. This range reflects the minimum to maximum combined base and target‑level sales compensation that would be paid if the hire performs at 100% of their sales plan. Of that on‑target pay amount, the mix of base salary and target‑level sales compensation is 75%/25%.
