What Is the Opportunity? The Construction Manager will be responsible for the overall field execution, pre‑execution planning, and site execution matters. This position will be accountable for ensuring all necessary construction packages are ready and available for use, supervising direct‑hire and subcontracted labor, maintaining safety and quality standards, and supporting a strong nuclear safety culture. What You'll Do Here: Prepare and develop a construction team of experienced supervisory personnel, including succession planning for key individuals. Develop and maintain a hiring plan and ensure labor relations issues are pro‑actively managed. Responsible for all site execution matters, including the timely performance of the work. Accountable for all site safety and human performance issues, collaborating with the project Safety Manager. Maintain a positive relationship with client construction counterpart. Utilize the project master schedule to create detailed look‑ahead schedules for Superintendents. Monitor and manage risks, develop recovery strategies when the project schedule or budget is in jeopardy. Assume responsibility for productivity of direct‑hire trade labor and subcontractors, efficient use of materials and equipment, and contractual performance of the project. Apply company discipline policies and appropriately escalated performance concerns. Participate in the CanAtom Performance Management Committee. Ensure trades personnel complete all necessary training in safety, quality assurance, technical qualifications, equipment operation, and owner‑specified requirements. Manage employee onboarding and offboarding, communicating with payroll and training coordinators. Ensure the project is constructed in compliance with drawings, specifications, and field work. Reinforce a strong nuclear safety culture continuously. Other duties as required or assigned. What You Bring To The Team: Minimum of 10 years of construction and subcontractor supervision experience. 3 years of nuclear construction experience and a boiler maker trade background is an asset. Ability to handle all matters confidentially and professionally. Excellent organizational, communication, and customer relationship skills. Extensive knowledge of self‑perform trade work, estimating, and employee relations. Proficient trades union relations management skills and a solid understanding of union agreements applicable to the work. Knowledge of all aspects of construction such as technology, equipment, methods, trade agreements, jurisdiction, engineering, cost control, scheduling, and safety requirements. Understanding of supporting a positive nuclear safety culture. Full appreciation of the importance of Quality Assurance Programs in the nuclear industry. Citizenship Requirement: This position requires access to nuclear facilities and information governed by U.S. federal regulations.
